The headlines as ususal are a bit misleading. Actually she's not a female james bond, the character has a different name, but james being retired (at least in the beginning of next movie) she will have taken the 007 codename. Not sure if she'll keep it or then use another one (like 006) once he comes back during the movie. They may be partners of some sort.

Besides her also lea seydoux will reprise her role and ana de armas will also have a lead role. Three women with lead roles.

Never watched any of the bond movies, but this is how I took it too. A lot of people are going to be very very confused

She will be 007, not bond. Probably just a thing to seem progressive and test the waters

Yes, but I'd say a bond movie with three feamle lead roles is also a pretty nice thing. And given the new 007 named Nomi (not bond) will be james' partner in some way while the other two are bond girls, well lea will be same role as in the previous movie, ana may play a villain. She's so sweet actually, but maybe she could be a good villain, we will see.
