She was a series regular who got less screen time than a guest star. That is them throwing her under the bus, of course she'd ask to step down. She sits around all day doing nothing.
Plus it was only meant to be a one season deal, they made it sound like she decided to step away from a regualr spot, when in fact she didnt have one to begin with __________________

Oh, that makes more sense. So basically all the reports make it seem like she's stepping down when really it was that the series regular thing was more just a legality for only one season (and not in execution). They basically tied her to the job without actually using her like she should have been.
