The ending of season 3 was meant to be a fresh start so that Scott M. Gimple can take the show and do whatever he wants with it

yeah exactly - they left it way too open-ended and left all our main characters except for Madison in far too great peril for ALL of them to go out unscathed. Alicia and Nick still have a lot of potential and Daniel was with Nick so it's unlikely he'll die. so that leaves us with Strand. i hope he does survive, but i'm not expecting it.

Strand started the series as this suave mysterious player who knew more than he let on and seemed to understand the new world and with how season 3 ended with him terrified and unsure of his own skills at negotiating a way out it would be cool to have him come back in season 4 as a timid and anxious wreck. Afraid of people, unable to negotiate, unable to kill and basically a burden on those around him because he's basically got PTSD from what happened at the Dam.

Strand worries me greatly. the way Madison talked to him about "having the time come" to kill someone else was a bad omen. with Strand deciding not to kill Daniel or Lola and Madison realizing that "your time has come" but Strand admitting that he couldn't go through with it...the writing on the wall is definitely pointing to Strand no longer having any purpose in the world and in a remarkably distinct contrast to the purposelessness Daniel and Nick share. Strand seems to have hit an end with both himself as a character and in the meta-sense of his character in the show: he isn't a killer, he's was not able to snake himself out of the situation at the dam and it took Nick sacrificing himself for Strand to get a ticket out. i think we're going to be disappointed next season when we find out Strand drowned in the dam as i don't think the writers have anywhere else to take him. i hope i'm wrong though, i love that guy.

Great analysis of his character Tina. I agree but I think they can find a new purpose for him

I have no faith now that Scott Gompers has taken over seeing as how he ruined twd especially the last 3 seasons and I think Troy and Ofelias endings are all him because he wanted his own and is all about himself. I love open minded ended seasons especially because it makes the wait more interesting and I dunno some dislike them? This is the Walking Dead so they'll find a way to keep them alive.

I agree TWD became worse and the premiere wasn't my taste either. But the deaths of Troy and Ofelia are from the current show runner and hasn't anything to do with TWD right?

I have no idea, honestly. But Scott Gimple (twd showrunner) really knows how to screw up a tv show in just a few episodes and really seems to have a huge ego. I wouldn't be surprised if the season finale had re-writes done after Dave Erickson got canned.

The actor that plays Troy did get a part in something new so that could very well be part of it.
