He was entertaining, not a good guy. He was a non-stop trainwreck and it was fun to watch.

Troy was written very well and the actor did a spot on job. It made him a very interesting character in the show. I have not seen anyone defending the actions of the character, but rather that it is a shame that he was killed off (great death though) because of the quality and complexity he brought to the story. Which is a completely reasonable position to take. Plenty of great characters are maniacs, racists, etc. That doesn't mean their stories aren't interesting.

i never understood why people thought Troy was going to have a redemption arc. his character didn't see anything wrong with what he had done and was willing to kill all those innocent people again. yes, while he was a very well written character, he doesn't deserve as much defending as he gets.

Agree. Troy was a bad dude and he was never gonna be good. He was complex. I personally loved to hate him.

Daniel Sherman is an amazing talent, and I was sad to see him go as he brought a lot to the show. However I'm not going to be/never will be one of the people to demand he comes back from the dead. In the end he deserved what he got, honestly he actually deserves worse, because he's a psychotic, racist, immoral lunatic.

I'm so glad this finally came up.
This is literally the theme that separates TWD & Fear. In TWD motives are very clear and there's an established principle that the audience understands for what qualifies someone as good or evil. It's proven to be such a fine line that sometimes even long-time characters can teeter over it (example: Morgan). This is further pushed by the constant delimma on whether or not to kill people who have proven through-and-through to be evil to the core. In Fear, this line is blurred. While we know the family's primary motive is to survive, but we don't really know what they're willing to risk. For people like Strand and Salazar, this means they're ultimately seen as henchmen to their cause. Other characters, like Troy, get to stick around only until they affect the immediate group (as opposed to society as a whole). People like Troy because this show is written more like Game of Thrones than TWD. You can like an evil character because evil hasn't been defined. We only have protagonists and the people working against them. If this show were to ever collide with TWD, who would be considered good and evil? Could they work together? I'm willing to be we'll find out eventually. __________________
