But we got a lot of Madison which was cool. I'm liking her relationships with Strand (which is warm and pretty much unwavering), Daniel (strong despite not agreeing, but she worked with him), and Walker (which is developing in to a strong respect, possible friendship).

Imo, she is the equal of each of the men (Strand, Daniel, and Walker) and likely more, because she is able to get them to work together when they otherwise would not. Also, so far, she has looked out for the good for the greater number of people (though putting her own kids first).

Madison is pragmatic and collected. She exhibits, most of the time, a great deal of calm, particularly since Travis' death. She is the kind of leader you might expect to emerge during the zombie apocalypse. When asked what she wanted in life, she should have said a walled city, tall keep, and peaceful populous. Because she is the kind of person who could make that happen.
