T O P 5 VILLAINS IN SCI FI/MYSTERY SHOWS #1 {Cole Turner (Charmed)} i hated him, i loved him, i hated him, and so on and on. he was a great villain with a soul and heart who learnt to be the good one but the evil in him was stronger and destroyed him in the end. i loved Cole so much as villain because he was not just pure evil like we used to know in so many other tv shows. he had so many great character traits and Julian McMahon really made me like him so much. i was devastated when he died but i had to realize it was for the best - just like Phoebe had to admit to herself in the end. #2 {Sylar (Heroes)} similar to Cole, Sylar was meant to be the evil guy but he had so many facets to show and also a good side. those broken characters really fascinate me and that's why i always adored him and wished him a happy ending. #3 {Ben Linus (Lost) } i don't have that many words for this dude. i just disliked him sooooo much but he was a very good villain. end of the story #4 {Lex Luthor (Smallville)} i admit i haven't seen everything of Smallville but what i have seen, Lex Luthor left a very (devilish) impression. #5 {Dexter (Dexter)} the villain of this series only kills bad guys, making him almost an antihero. however he is still creepy enough and a serial killer. __________________

Top 5 Villains in Mystery/Sci-fi shows 1. The Cigarette Smoking Man (X-Files) Now this man is certainly one of the most iconic sci-fi and mystery villains, who's selfish plan to create a new world order as leader of a dark and global shadow government, endarngers all mankind. I can only say this is a very classical villain. 2. Lex Luthor (Smallville) He's an iconic comic villain and Michael Rosenbaum portrayed him with so many facettes. 3. Psi-Cop Alfred Bester (Babylon 5) Not so well known, but perhaps one of the most disgusting villains in sci-fi history, you just had to hate this man and his sadistic attitude. 4. Sylar (Heroes) As Tina already said he was meant as a villain but actually he also had good sides so he was a pretty cool villain. 5. William (Westworld)/Jordan (Stargirl) Like Sylar, William is also a very complex villain and not only evil at all times. Like the Gif already shows Jordan was a pretty complex villain with good sides too and though he was (so far) only around for one season he was a surprisingly cool villain. Honorable mentions Adam (Dark) Also a complex villain, I wish I could have put in my list. Ben Linus (Lost) __________________

It's a lesser knows tv show of the 90s. But honestly writing-wise one of the best 90s sci-fi shows tbh. It spoke about so many important current issues, like racism, nationalism, far-right wing politicians and pundits using fake news and conspiracy theories in order to gain influence and power as well as things like universal spirituality, etc (a common topic in most scifi-shows).

TOP 5 VILLAINS IN A SCI FI/MYSTERY SHOW RANKING #1 Benjamin Linus (Lost) Hated him so much at the beginning but then I pitied him, understood him even and still he was the main villain of the show and a very good one. #2 Lex Luthor (Smallville) He is a modern classic villain who is the opponent of the hero Clark Kent. Lex was always present and tried to destroy Superman. And the actor Michael Rosenbaum was great too.. #3 Professor Moriarty (Sherlock) Even though I only saw few episodes, Moriarty is always an epic villain to Sherlock. #4 The Demogorgon/The Mind Flayer/The Upside Down (Stranger Things) They are the only non-human characters on this list, but come on. They are freaky and scary and I hope it can be defeated once and for all. #5 Serena Joy (The Handmaid's Tale) Again just watched a bit but she already revealed what a monster she really is. |

I find it funny you chose a non-human villain markus.
Also imagine if we made top 5 fantasy show villains as a category. (this is meant as a joke for those not getting it). __________________

Wasn't sure at first if Stranger Things counts or not cause according to IMDB it's rated as Drama, Fantasy, Horror only but googling more about it's genre, any other page also says mystery and sci-fi and I also think it's very much sci-fi so I included it

Top 5 SCI-FI/MYSTERY SHOW VILLAINS #1 – Jim Moriarty – Sherlock A classical evil human being who comitts crimes because of boredom. He's a real antagonist to Sherlock Holmes and this show and its hero is only as good as its villain. And Moriarty is brilliant! #2 – The Demogorgon/The Mind Flayer/The Upside Down – Stranger Things One of the appeals of Stranger Things is the way it treats its creatures. There are no humanizing aspects to these villains. Like any creepy alien movie of the '80s, the monsters are monsters and the heroes are the heroes. It's the perfect recipe for a quintessential good vs. evil story. #3 – The Cigarette Smoking Man – X-Files #4 – Benjamin Linus – LostHe's behind one of the most pervasive government coverups in human history. A classic real scaring villain. Then again he's trying to keep society from becoming chaotic and that's what makes him a grey character. For a while Ben Linus was one of Lost’s most intriguing mysteries. Even after it was revealed that Ben was actually the leader of The Others and not the hapless survivor he initially presented himself as, plenty of questions remained about him. And despite being one of the show’s main antagonists, he also became one of Lost’s best characters. #5 – Garrett Scholes – Black Mirror All villains were super scary but the only solo mass-murderer in all four seasons, Garrett Scholes, left an impression. For people saying 'oh but he has good motivations, it taught us a lesson', he murdered like half a million people and the threshold was just 'did they use the hashtag'. Heaps of people might have used the hashtag to ask what it was, or even journalists just to report on it. He killed at least tens of thousands of innocent people. __________________
