Most inspirational women in the world #1 Malala Yousafzai "I raise my voice not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot succeed when half of us are held back." Every day she wakes up knowing the hurdles that her campaign faces. But she continues anyways. I'm sure she's had an unlimited amount of reasons and opportunities to quit, to give up. Education rights for all girls? Talk about an overwhelming subject. But she sets an example and she is great with what she's doing - never giving up. #2 Marie Curie "First principle: never to let one's self be beaten down by persons or by events." For me, Marie Curie really stands out as a source of inspiration. Whether you know her as the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, or simply because of her groundbreaking research that led to the first use of the term "radioactivity," Marie Curie is a huge name. #3 Obiageli Ezekwesili "A society that will not honor its women is a society that will be lost in the woods for a long time." I don't know much about politics or the situation in Nigeria but this woman is a true inspiration for her country, for young girls and women and a role model in politics. She's one of the few pelicans I'd trust. #4 Rosa Parks "I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people." Her protest was supported by many other African Americans and sparked the civil rights movement which, in the 1960s, eventually won equal rights. Four years after her death in 2005, Barack Obama became the first African-America. That wouldn't have been possible without her. #5 Michelle Obama "If you don't get out there and define yourself, you'll be quickly and inaccurately defined by others." Michelle Obama makes me believe it is possible for me to make progress and work to better this nation that we call home. Her eloquence and powerful speeches have shown me that not only men get to make the decisions. __________________
