Yeah but Merlin said the Darkness can't be destroyed anymore without paying the steepest of prices because Emma multiplied it when she turned Hook into the DO.. The writers have probably forgotten about that already, though.

Maybe Rumple can still turn the Darkness back into light magic?

I thought the 'steepest of prices' thing was a reference to her having to kill someone to do it? After all, the Darkness would have been destroyed if Hook had died and the Darkness hadn't gone into Rumple. I think now Rumple has all the Darkness of all the DOs inside him, if he destroys it, it will be totally gone, for good.

Hmm... But who was paying the price there, Emma or Hook? And wasn't Emma going to kill herself first, and Hook then decided to sacrifice himself instead? Looks like the Darkness can't be destroyed without someone dying, but maybe that's just me..

TBH I can't remember how Hook/Emma became mortal again..

I know with Rumple, he's got to let him go itself, maybe in the S6 finale, that the first few steps he took

Mind you with the big time gap between the S6 finale and adult Henry how do we know Rumple is still the DO ?, he maybe the Light one by then...

I don't remember very much about that either, as I usually only watch the Rumple/Rumbelle scenes and skip most of the rest. I only remember Emma explaining her plan to Rumple and him looking shocked because she was going to sacrifice herself.

However, this makes me think that Rumple (and Regina and Hook) in S7 might be from an alternate reality (And maybe the Henry we saw in the FTL with Lucy is from that AU too, while the Henry that lives in Seattle is our Henry, and Lucy sought him out because he's known as the Truest Believer (I mean, didn't her father tell her to find someone who believes?). That would at least explain what he was doing in the FTL, and why he doesn't remember having a daughter):

Well it would certainly not muck up what we know anyways if they go the AU route, which means they will probably change their mind

Emma could have destroyed her darkness using the sword, if she hadn't made Hook a DO. So it doesn't follow that Rumple would need to die. The problem was it was in two people, as far as I understand it.

Emma's darkness was removed by Hook, and Hook's darkness was removed at the same time as Emma's was. He didn't transform like she did presumably because he was dying and because there wasn't a transforming into a DO moment for him like there was with Emma. Well that's my guess anyway.
