Walter's track record with fast cars is not good, but right now I want him setting speed records.

I wrote a few articles - well posts but they're long so.

This one is defending Walter's emotional whiplash in the last few minutes.

And this one is Waige related, but has some focus on Walter since the writers seem to think they can't have him getting into a relationship yet.

I'll have to read those when I get home from work, but I'll say this for now. I wasn't at all surprised by Walter's quick change. I suspected that when it came to him, it would come like a bolt from the blue - a very appropriate scienc-y EUREKA moment.

I also think that what Toby said made a big impression, much more so now than all the stuff he's said in the past. In part I think that is because Walter sees that however distressed Toby is, he still believes in love; he still loves love. I also think that Walter realizes from Toby's experience that love is a much bigger thing than he's ever allowed himself to believe it was. Regardless of Toby's condition right at this moment, Toby and Happy have both changed significantly - for the better - because of love.

Well I know you're telling the truth about having not read them yet because that's not what I talk about in the post haha

Okay - so now I have read them

On defending Walter's emotional whiplash - couldn't agree more. The very fact that Walter is unused to dealing with his own emotions makes it likely that he'll have these sorts of extreme reactions to events - especially distressing events. Scorpion is everything to Walter - but not because it's the business he's built up or because it justifies who and what he is. It *is* his only family - and the only family his friends have as well. He wants to protect it because he needs it. When it comes to the effects of emotional upheaval, he's inexperienced and ill-equipped to even know what the possible damage might be, much less how to prevent it or fix it. So he can only go on what little he knows. And that is that tears and emotional scenes tend to lead to near disaster. So his knee jerk reaction is to decide that he simply must prevent them (I heard him in the Grinch's voice there - "I MUST stop relationships from coming!"). I do love your analogy to the system reboot. Channeling TBBT maybe? But that seems so appropriate to Walter's character. His instinct is to set things back to a time when everything worked. When Toby and Happy were just teammates and friends, he and Paige were the same and there were no tears and no anguish. He simply doesn't understand that humans - even genius humans - just don't work that way. Love is not something you can reboot.

On the premiere - I suppose it's to be expected that there will be some backing off on Walter's part in the S3 premiere, although if they have him somehow rethink all this on the 450 mile drive to Lake Tahoe and end up stammering out some excuse for his appearance that doesn't include anything along the lines of "I figured out that I've been a stupid moron jerk and I love you so ditch Tim and we'll figure this out" then I will be royally pissed. If they want him to decide he needs to take this really slow, I'm fine with that. Even if he doesn't tell Paige that, and she winds up being a bit disturbed and confused and even hurt because he's holding back so much - I'm okay with that as well because it would still reflect a Walter that knows he wants to be with Paige, but simply doesn't have the experience to know how to manage that. But if he gets there and doesn't say something to Paige about how he feels, or if he gets there and Tim answers the door and he chickens out again I will probably start throwing things.

I should probably invest in some pillows.

Those words have really been an important part of Walter's growth this season.

I realized last night that I miss Walter. Like, I miss the how but I miss Walter differently. I know you all know how much I get him and relate to him and I just love seeing new things with him on my screen...it's like I've said goodbye to both a friend and a part of myself for the summer and it's both weird and hard.

It's a little bit like saying goodbye to your best friend from college - at least when I was in college and we didn't have texting or e-mail. You know you'll see them again in September, but you probably won't talk or have much contact at all in the meantime, and it's really hard. Especially if you moved away from home and you don't have your high school friends around either.

Will I have definitely moved away from home! Yeah so I'm just sort of like...I can't believe it'll be five months to see him again specifically.

Especially when you know that whatever happens to him when you see him again is probably going to be big.

I definitely don't want a Crossroads repeat EITHER.

Anyhoo, anybody see Elyes's recent IG video? I can't tell if he's actually really bored or a little hungover. Perhaps both?
