I wasn't involved in the fandom when Katharine and Elyes were dating, but they were together a while so it would be nice to think they are still in touch with each others' friends and families. We don't know for sure, of course, but it doesn't appear like they split on bad terms. Elyes seems to live a very different lifestyle to Kat and he looks happy doing what he's doing, so good luck to him in his personal life.

Kat and Elyes' mom seemed to have a real "Other Mother" sort of relationship. To your point, in some ways, I think Kat had more in common with Elyes' mom than she did with Elyes.

He went to see her in Waitress, so if there was any curiosity left as to if they're okay with each other, I think that answered it. As far as I know, he and Eddie were the only cast members to travel to see her (Nikki saw it too, but she was already in NYC for her sister, since she's Young Nala right now).

Even though their posts to and about each other became a lot less frequent after the break-up, it seemed clear that they were more than just cordial - they were still really good friends who enjoyed each other's company.

You can tell I'm desperate for news when I click on the Portuguese interviews with Elyes and deal with the bizarre translations.

In one of them it says he's working on another short film.

Difficult to say. It said he is "realizing" a new short film. Although I think that should really translate as "directing" a new film. Romance languages use a word that also means "realize" for "direct" when it references making a film.

He seems to be really into directing at the moment. I assume it's something he's always wanted to do, but I hope he manages to squeeze in some more acting roles too.

With low budget, independent films, the director can save money by wearing more than one hat (actor/director/producer/soundtrack) so maybe Elyes will cast himself in a leading role soon and we'll be treated to his many talents in one project?
