So Sly was giving me all the feels last episode. I feel so bad for the guy. But I'm also happy that he had something special enough to miss that much.

So many of his scenes had me near tears. That last scene with Happy was really special.

It was already giving me so many feels and then they hugged. I love hugs so much.

Of all of them, Happy seems the least accepting of hugs - even less than Walter - so it was great to see Sly hug her and even if she was hesitant at first, she seemed to not just accept it - but actually be pleased that her gift was so special to him.

Walter just always seems surprised when anyone hugs him and he doesn't quite know what to do, but Happy seems genuinely uncomfortable. Less so now that she's with Toby, perhaps, but still awkward. Toby might say this is all down to her childhood. Walter at least grew up with parents and I imagine his mother hugged him regularly, even if she didn't understand him. Happy had no chance to experience that parental love.

Sylvester, of course, had parents but I doubt his dad ever hugged him. We don't know enough about his mother to know if she was the hugging type. I hope, for Sly's sake, that she did love him and perhaps tried to show him in her own way, but maybe her husband was so domineering that she didn't feel she could demonstrate her motherly love in any physical way?

It's actually interesting that Sly is so hyper-expressive and Walter is so non-expressive of emotion, considering the similarities in their family dynamics. It makes me even more curious about Sly's mother to see if something about her made the difference. Maybe she was much more demonstrative - despite her husband's influence - and that's why Sly is is more comfortable with hugs. It's also a rather interesting paradox that Sly is so germophobic - yet he doesn't hesitate to hug.

Nifty interview. It seems like most actors knew it was the only thing they wanted to do practically since they were in the womb. I guess in most cases, it takes that kind of certainty in order to have the necessary persistence.
