So...thoughts on the season so far?

Personally I've enjoyed it, but taking the first four eps of S1, first four of S2, and first four of S3, this is probably my least favorite just because I didn't really enjoy the premiere at all. Though I didn't much care for Cuba Libre either, Megan being in ep 3 and the Melvester ILY make it Trump S3 just because there were two eps (both Civil Wars) that I didn't care for in this season plus the whole love triangle thing just makes me kinda eh. But I am excited about the other story arcs we have going forward.

I'm enjoying S3 so far, but I don't think I can really compare it to the beginnings of either S1 or S2. S1 it was naturally much more about the cases, but I love watching those episodes over and over for the little signs of developing ships. Although there was a lot about 2.01 that I liked, it's not a big favorite and 2.02 and 2.03 - again with small exceptions - were not big favorites either. The first ep in S2 that I really loved was Robots.

With the S3 premiere I'm sort of the opposite of my feelings about S2. There's a few things about 3.01-3.02 that I didn't like, but overall I liked it. It had the level of intensity that I've come to expect from the case, and there was a lot of character examination in it - it wasn't always pretty, and much of it was rather regressive, but under that circumstances, it didn't surprise me that some folks were acting like little children. 3.03 is the icing on the cake in this season so far. It was sweet and light and full of fluff and I seriously don't care if it was all about giving the fans what they want all wrapped up in a fantasy - I loved getting the fantasy. I think in 3.04 we were starting to get back to a state of equilibrium. No - none of the issues had really be dealt with, but the team was working together - and doing it well. And then the (double) bomb dropped.

I did love watching Toby tackle Walter.

Another bit on the timeline discussion (I'd put this in the 3x04 thread, but I don't want to double-post).

After Toby launches himself at Walter at the end of 3x04 and Cabe pulls him off, Toby says "You could have told me days ago - I have been suffering."

When he says "days" I can only think he's referencing the time since the proposal, so since 2x24. Which means it can only have been a few days from 2x23 until 3x04. If it had been much longer he would have said "weeks" or "months". So if there is going to be a time jump, it pretty much MUST happen between 3x04 and 3x06, since we know 3x06 is a Halloween timeframe. Which leads back to Happy giving birth around Christmas.

All this makes me wonder if the writers had the idea for Happy's marriage - and had that pretty well planned out - but then someone decided, at the last minute, "Let's make her pregnant and really stir things up!" Whoever thought that up has a lot of pull, but not much forethought.

Or they just weren't thinking when they showed us the dates on the Tahoe tickets. If they hadn't, they could have just let us believe that 2.13-2.19 took place over a period of five or six months and taken care of the time jump that way - Ralph's issue could have been in a summer class. Then, Quintis would have been dating 6-7 months at the time of the proposal rather than 3 months max - still quite the rush IMO, but not as much so.

I wouldn't put much stock in what the tickets say. I've seen many shows where the things that the prop or graphics departments come up with don't match what the writers intended.
