Yes, this really puts Scorpion in a tight spot.

If we're saved, what will do it is the syndication threshold, which can be a powerful persuader. At least for a half season.

It's amazing what they can do in 13 episodes - especially if they pretty much know they will be the last. If the show is renewed for only a half season, the writers will see the writing on the wall (pun intended), and I think they will concentrate on tying things up for us with a pretty little bow. In those situations, the thing to worry about is that the 'ships will become sickly sweet and some of the other issues will be resolved in ways that stretch credibility.

Honestly, I think the only thing about that finale that could absolutely not be fixed in just one episode would be Fly. Waige realizes they miss each other and both acted like idiots, actually talk to each other (as it seems Walter already wants to do) and Boom. Walter apologizes to Sly for what he said, Sly admits he overreacted, Boom. I've had shows get 6 episode final seasons, 13 episodes would be plenty and would give them time to drag stuff out a bit as we know they like to do AND would have time to let Quintis adopt, or at least start that process, as well. Yeah we wouldn't get a Waige wedding but tbh I never thought we would get one unless the show went into a 6th or 7th season.

I can see the writers writing a Waige Wedding as a Flash Forward kind of wedding... meaning in either the last episode or the second to last episode, we jump to a few years in the future where they discuss how happy they are that they're actually here, getting married.
Or, one episode we might see walter be like: You love me, I love you. Let's get hitched. (but not in those exact words ) |

I still really doubt that. Waige is at the core of the show, but it's not like the show is about their relationship. We don't need a wedding to have the "look at where we are; look at where we started" point driven home.

I won't be surprised if we get a Waige Wedding at the end of the show - even if it's only 13 more episodes. I'm not sure that's a good thing. Unless it is a flash forward sort of thing, it will feel rushed. Plus, the issues they have will take a while to work through - even after they get back together. Rushing into marriage is not something they should do until they learn to accept each other for who they are.

See, that's precisely why I feel like we won't see it. It would feel way too soon even in a flash forward situation (though my main question in a candidate scenario would be "why?")

In my mind, it would feel too much like they were trying to make it harder to split up again. Like somehow being married would guarantee they would stay together. Of course, it won't and it's more likely to make things worse if that's their reason for getting married.
But a lot of folks see a wedding as an ultimate happy ending. For myself, I'd rather see the show end with them together and having a long and productive talk about their future, how they can do better at communicating and how they can manage their work and personal lives without having one destroy the other. __________________
