You know, potential unpopular opinion, but of all the characters, Paige and Cabe included, Sly was the most dateable, and Sly was (most of the time) the best friend.

One of the things I love about Sly is that he was afraid of everything - but when it came down to it, he was willing to do anything for his friends. That gif exemplifies that. Of everyone on Scorpion, Sly is the least likely athlete. But he was out there, just the same. I think he might have realized that the team needed something at that point to unite them. Baseball might not be the best way of doing that, but it presented itself and he gave it his all - not for the sake of winning, but for the sake of the team.
