I'd like for Amy to be a nice person, too. From what I remember of Toby's phone calls with her in S1, she wasn't mean, she just wanted a clean break from him so she could get on with her life. If she determined she could no longer marry him - for whatever reason - a clean break is the kindest thing for everyone.
