Florence Tipton/Tina Majorino #1: "I just saw a freaky, terrifying man."

Heidi or I will spruce up the OP soon but I feel like it's high time Florence gets her own thread. I couldn't stand her her first couple eps but the episode that changed it for me was 4.11, partly when she came around to rescuing the dog once she saw it but that moment when she and Toby were faced by the police and both just took off, that was the moment I was like "wait, I like her!" And now I've low key got a crush on her too.

Florence definitely deserves her own thread. :) I think she's a great character with a lot of potential. The love triangle non-storyline was silly and distracting so I hope she is allowed to develop properly now... and she learns to relax a little!

I ended up finding that storyline interesting just because it ended up being nothing, and I don't blame Florence at all for it because as Paige said, it wasn't her fault. I feel kinda bad for her being so involved in something she's simultaneously completely innocent in.

I don't blame Florence at all, I just think it was a pity that storyline detracted from developing her character more in those few episodes. It was as if they wanted us all to dislike her for trying to break up Waige, even though she wasn't doing that at all.

TFTNT! Flo and Tina definitely deserve a thread!

I think they purposefully made her a bit disagreeable at first precisely because they intended to use her for that ridiculous non-triangle thing. She was not only not to blame for it - she was pretty much oblivious to it! When you think about it, had they presented Walter in the pilot in a similar fashion, we might not have liked him either.

The difference between early on Walter and early on Florence is Walter always sees the best in people and Florence used to fixate on the worst.

True. First impression made it seem like she had a tremendous chip on her shoulder and just assumed that people would treat her badly. It seems she is adjusting.

I feel like she might not be much different to the general public now, she's just gotten comfortable/feels safe with the team.

Cyclone139 02-02-2018 01:41 AM

She does seem comfortable with the team now, but I wouldn't say safe, exactly!

By safe I mean emotionally (like in how she admitted to Paige she wants them to be friends, etc) not physically.

Yes, I knew what you meant. :) But I can imagine someone asking Florence if she feels safe with Team Scorpion and she'll think back to being attacked by jellyfish and trapped in an underground bunker and answer with a resounding "No!"

WeBuiltThePyramids 02-02-2018 03:25 PM

Whether or not a question with several possible meanings is asked of someone without contextual clarification has literally nothing to do with what I'm saying so I'm not entirely sure what your point is.

Cyclone139 02-02-2018 03:41 PM

I wasn't trying to make a point, I was just trying to make a joke. (I used the ' ' to highlight this.) It's not important. No offence intended.

WeBuiltThePyramids 02-02-2018 03:48 PM

I wasn't offended, just confused. :)

Since Walter lives in a loft above the garage, I wonder if Florence has a similar living arrangement - renting the building next door and doing her work in a lab downstairs while she lives in a small apartment upstairs.
