I've been watching the TV series Prison Break with my son. To be honest I'm not enjoying it that much, but he loves it! It's too miserable and violent for my liking, but I guess that's whst teenage boys enjoy.

Has anyone else watched it? The reason I'm mentioning this is Nick Santora is one of the Exec Producers and has written some episodes, including one where the main character (who is not ever explicitely described as a genius, but who is very intelligent) is trapped in a computer/server room when a small fire breaks out and all the oxygen is sucked out of the room to put the fire out, leaving him struggling to breathe until he is rescued - sounds familiar, doesn't it!

By Season 4, Nicholas Wootton is also involved - I'm not sure if this is the first project they worked on together? After the first three seasons that all revolved around breaking out of one kind of prison or another (or being on the run and trying not to get sent back to prison) Season 4 has a different premise where they have to deal with some kind of conspiracy and are assisted throughout by a Homeland agent. It's also much more tech based (they bring in a tech expert to help, who can seemingly do anything from his laptop) and they have to do crazy, Scorpion-like things (breaking into a high security safe etc.)

I still have most of S4 to watch. I wonder how many ideas they tried in Prison Break and decided to reuse/improve on in Scorpion?

There is also a S5 of the show which was made about 8 years after the original series finished and wraps up the story (although I think the original run was given a decent ending anyway) - perhaps they should take THAT idea and reuse it for Scorpion!

I never got into that one. I tried it because of Robin Tunney, but I also don't care for violence.
That was one thing I liked about Scorpion, it wasn't a 'lots of murder' show.

Same here. I tried to watch it because of Robin, but just couldn't deal with all the violence. Plus I'm just not a fan of prison stories.

At least one person gets killed every episode. I'm very glad Scorpion is not like that at all.

Deaths were pretty rare on Scorpion.

That was honestly a HUGE part of why I liked Scorpion so much.

I particularly hate it when a show kills off a regular character. It feels like a betrayal.

Absolutely. However it does seem to be another thing TV writers mistakenly believe viewers want, but we really don't! (Like love triangles! )

Right. And I get that it's not realistic for all the characters of an action drama like Scorpion to get out of every mission unscathed, but this isn't a reality show.

Bumping this thread to say that Dominos is my favorite Christmas episode from this show!

I second that. Although I liked most of the holiday themed episodes. With a couple of notable exceptions.

If there had been a season five, it would have been nice to have a New Year's episode, which would also be the episode where the teams reconciled and reunited. They could have a nice rooftop celebration looking forward to great stuff with the team back together in the new year.

Yeah, sappy, I know. But I get sappy when I think of the season 5 that could have been.
