So, my source came through for me! I'm so happy. I may have watched it twice already.

Things I liked:
- The musical number. I also really liked how they tied it back into the plot at the end so it wasn't completely frivolous.
- Sly! Wonderful moment there with Happy, actually moved me to tears. (And a special mention for his singing. )
- Happy climbing up a wall of ice. She's certainly good at climbing!
- The number of times various characters said 'buckle up', which I assume was intentional.
- Cabe being Cabe.
- I don't like Mark Collins, of course, because of what he's done, but I do appreciate he is the antagonist and I think he is an interesting character so I thought it was really clever how, with some of his words and actions, we still can't be sure if he has really changed or not. (Not even Toby is sure, so we have no chance! ) I wonder if they will resolve it next episode, or we'll still be left with unanswered questions?

I wasn't so keen on:
- Paige being so quick to have doubts about their relationship. That seemed out of place, but kudos to Walter for standing up to Collins when he was (deliberately?) stirring up trouble.
- Paige not standing up to Collins. The comment about Drew and Tim didn't really make sense and I would have like to have seen Paige pointing out that he was wrong.
- It started to get a little silly that almost every member of the team was in sudden danger at some point. I assume it's Walter and Paige's turn next episode?
- The introduction of yet another Homeland director who doesn't think much of Scorpion or Cabe. Considering the number of times the team has saved the world you'd think their talents would be appreciated a little more by now.
- No sign of Allie.

I saw some reviews that were kinda rolling their eyes at Paige confessing she's in love with Walter just a few weeks ago in show time and now all of a sudden she's like "well maybe we're too different." The reviewers were pointing out that Paige fell in love with who he is,
and season three was largely about how different they are as people, so it seemed out of place to them, too.

THIS THOUGH. It was like on The Mentalist, they brought in countless law enforcement people who were skeptical of Jane. And like yeah, I'd be skeptical of him too, but from a story telling point, it just really got predictable in that sense after a while. And it seems this show can't stick with one Homeland director so they keep bringing in new ones that are essentially the same character.

One thing I forgot to mention that I really liked - when Happy was yelling at Toby about whatever and he just said "love you too," and they hugged. Because he wasn't saying that pointedly - he knew that she was telling him she loved him with the words she was saying, so he just reciprocated.

Yes! Wow, I love those two.

(I apologise for the overuse of emoticons tonight... I can't help it, I'm feeling very emotional! )

The emotional stuff in this was off the charts - especially Sly being upset because there was no mention of Megan in his obit - and then when he lost his ring. It can be easy to write off their romance and assume that Sly would not be that invested. Not that I think anyone here does that - just folks unfamiliar with the depth of the show might. It's nice to see the show acknowledge that.

I was a little miffed at how easily Paige fell into Collins' pit as well. She's not unfamiliar with who he is. I would understand if someone like Toby or Happy was telling her this stuff. But considering the source, she should be been able to brush it off. In some measure I think they used that as a tool to highlight how Walter defended them. That in itself I don't like because it cheapens Walter's reaction a bit for me if they have to make Paige look like a gullable idiot in order to make Walter look good.

But in all, I love this episode. It's hard for me not to love a season premiere - although they managed to do it last year!

Ha yeah, it was a good episode, but compared to a year ago, it was ~ * stellar * ~.

One thing I found a bit distracting is that it was so dark. I get they are in the Arctic, it's perpetual night and all that, but it was actually hard for me to follow what was going on. I would think if they are doing something like that they would bring more lights!

I am very curious to see if they will resolve the status of Mark Collins in the next episode. Is he really reformed or is he just messing with them all in his normal way. Or will that question not be answered for us or for Scorpion? I can only imagine how Toby must feel - realizing that he now owes his life to the same guy who kidnapped and almost killed him. But I'm with Happy - I don't buy a bit of what Collins is trying to sell.

I don't buy it either. He's the only recurring antagonist, I doubt the show would reform him.

And yeah, the darkness, I was sometimes confused with who was where.

It was easier to spot Toby when he was wearing a red coat, but then it got wet and he changed into a dark one like everyone else.

Yes! I wasn't crazy about this episode as a whole, but this scene and the Sly/Happy conversation were wonderful.

De-topping this, but please continue the discussion...

This seems more like a recap than a review - but it's nice to see that the reviewer has many of the same comments and questions that we do.

I'm glad Scorpion has a new reviewer on SpoilerTV. While I enjoyed reading the previous reviewer (Liz?) when she used to write reviews for the show, I was ticked off when she decided to give up writing for it. Even though this new reviewer really only summarized the episode and posed some good questions towards the end, I'm happy that someone wanted to write about it for SpoilerTV.

I'm glad there's a new reviewer, too. I liked the former reviewer as well. Did she give a reason why she left?

This is what she says in the last part of the review for 3x01 and 3x02:

Quote:
This was far from my favorite episode. There were far too many over-the-top escapes. Are they trying to compete with MacGyver? I would think that MacGyver’s resurrection was actually due to Scorpion’s success. Most annoying for me as a viewer, however, it the constant re-visiting of the same issues with the romantic pairings. You have two couples. This is the third year and neither of them are together? You can only tease for so long before it simply feels like bait and switch. I’m tired of waiting for at least one happy ending. I have become increasingly dissatisfied with this aspect of the show, so due to time constraints and a waning interest, this will likely be my last review of the show.

But...Quintis was together by s3? Unless she means that she thought they would break up over the husband thing. I agree with what she was saying though - you can only tease for so long before people just get annoyed.
