As much as I wanted David and Rachel to be together in the end, I think she made the right decision because I have no sympathy for parents who abandon their children.

I felt David was being selfish here, he had his chance and blew it. Was he really expecting her to leave her daughter to be with him? He should have waited until she got divorced or at least stayed in contact with her, instead of disappearing for decades.

David was very selfish indeed, I wish she could've just taken her daughter and left with him but it's not like he presented too many options other than 'let's run away together, bye everyone'.
