No, it's not. My point is that Caitlin and Iris don't have an imbalanced relationship. They care very little about each other outside of the occasional scene. You were making it sound like Caitlin has been wronged by everyone because she's helped and supported them a bit more than they did her. I completely disagree with that.

Not a big act. Still more than what the hero of the show did in that occasion. I was equating Iris' support of Caitlin to Barry's.

Joe indirectly causing her death does not compare to Caitlin purposely putting Iris in danger.

In this case it's her "sins" that amount to nothing. It's only Iris' life we're talking about I honestly got racist undertones in the writing for that episode. A black kid gets ostracized. A grown white woman is not held accountable for risking the life of another woman who just happens to be black. To me the show was trying to protect Caitlin and give her the sympathetic edit, not saying that the character amounts to nothing.

She's not treated pretty well by the show, she's treated pretty well by the other characters. Again, when Barry doesn't want to sleep with Iris, she has no-one to support and comfort her unless it's plot-related. See Barry comforting Iris over Eddie one year after his death and only because the show had to move forward with WestAllen. Caitlin always has someone with the Zoom kidnapping maybe being the exception and it's not like that story lasted half a season.

Cisco and the recurring character of the season is still someone. No-one hugged Iris after she lost Eddie. Iris had to comfort Joe after he spilled the beans on Francine. She cried alone on a stairwell when Joe and Barry had their "How's Iris?" scenes but couldn't be bothered to talk to her. No. Forcing Barry on Patty was the priority

And Iris is the female lead so the fact that she and Caitlin get treated equally is laughable in itself. The fact is, Iris is treated worse when it comes to grief and support unless Barry wants to get in her bed. Again, it's laughable and insulting.

Iris is the female lead and her main love interest never met her mom. Let that sink in. Barry and Iris grew up without their mothers, bonded over that and he never met Francine. Season 2 was atrocious.

I agree that the writing fails Caitlin, that she has little character development and importance in the overall story but look at how outright insulting the writing for Iris is when Barry has his eyes elsewhere. Even though the show is horrible to Caitlin, I think the writers are more considerate to her considering that a) she's not the love interest of the protagonist and b) she's a supporting character. Of course, that is a pretty low bar to meet.

the one thing i will add is that it wasn't that scene that i meant caitlain amounts to nothing as a character. not in that scene, sequence or episode. as a character on the show, over the past season or season and a half. that was my meaning. it had nothing to do with that episode.

It may be for the best. The idea that there's this one character that is somehow more deserving of love, support and help from everyone is making me rather uncomfortable.

I'm happy because I love the actor and enjoy the character. I just hope they have more in store for him. He had some promise as a CSI but fell victim of the STAR Labs curse I really really wish they'd demote some characters to recurring though.

fair enough regarding the synopsis . i find more curious they'd release that much information before the finale with potential for spoilers etc - less than 48 hours after the cliff hanger ending of 3x22. obviously iris' fate but also i don't believe there had been an official announcement regarding tom yet, perhaps i am mistaken

i like the actor but knew either way what he was destined for. he was eiher going to be the big bad or caitlain's LI. almost nailed both.

Thinking 4x01 will start off with a huge villain or the season main villain forcing Speed|Force to release him

I just don't see the show keeping Barry away for long I don't see anymore than 4x01 - always a time jump, hell even Arrow is gonna do their regular [6 months?] jump than reference back to its cliffhanger
