That's part of the reason I didn't like the second season. What were they thinking (smoking?) when they got rid of Lydecker? I'm evenly split on the changes made for the second season ... liked adding Alec and Joshua, hated getting rid of Lydecker and adding that cult group. I also wanted Zack back ... but not how they did it. I was hoping for something along the lines of a recurring character, not a one episode storyline tie-up.

Watched Pollo Loco tonight and it reminded me why I loved this show and Lydecker. What an amazing episode! It was a ... but I knew that going in. This episode was quite powerful with Ben and Max and how it ended ... so sad.

Now I want to get out my DVDs and watch some more episodes ... specifically one with Zack.

Well, you and I feel the same way about those points you brought up.

I didn't like all the nomilies...but loved Joshua's character. I felt that he added comic relief and was Max's conscience in a way. Also, his relationship in Annie the blind woman was interesting to see, b/c it translates into real life if you ask me. Amazing how different you can "see" someone when you can't actually see them! Loved Joshua's paintings At the end of Frean Nation...when he beat the crap out of White...probably the most happy moment for me for the entire episode! I even got a motion avatar made out of that

I definitely thought that White wasn't the same as Lydecker...Deck was great in season 1, not just some robotic bad guy, but a very complicated character. I really liked the scenes with him and Max. Big mistake to get rid of his character...but who knows, maybe John Savage saw the bad creative direction taken by the show and just told them he wanted out? Maybe they couldn't afford him? I won't speculate. Either way, it was not a good decision to go in that direction.

Zack was another big loss all together. He added the X-5 depth to the show, the viewpoint that came opposite of Max. Him and Alec are so different, that the two wouldn't have been redundant as characters on the same show. Infact, it would have been great comedy, with Zack being all serious and Alec what else...a "smart alec"

So I watched a couple of Zack episodes ... the first one he was in (411 on the DL) and Cold Comfort.

The change in him in just the first episode is quite interesting. At first, he seems like this fresh-faced kid. But by the end of the episode, you see him for what he really is - a leader and protector.

That's one thing that really appealed to me ... how he protected and watched out for the others.

Now that I got my Zack fix, I want to go back and watch it from the beginning. Or at least catch up to where the Sci-Fi Channel is.

My favorite villain is Renfro. I'm probably the only one. But she was such a badass. And I like the fact that they had a strong woman villain. And she made Deck nervous as hell.
My next favorite would be Lydecker of course. White was TOO evil. I mean... "Clean up" ?!

ITA BYtheSEA. I love how he protected all of them. And made himself believe it was HIS job.

Zack was the man, and he was so much better for Max than Logan. I also think that Alec was better than Logan. Hell, Rafer would have been better and more interesting and less predictable, but what do I know. I'm not a writer.

Favorite vilan, Deck, b/c he wasn't just "plain bad"...he had so much depth to his character...esp. as S1 was ending, and he went rogue to save the X-5's. He always had a shade of gray. White was just "black"...and I had no sympathy for him at all...not even after I saw the episode with Ray and his wife!

I just watched the episode that introduced Zack. Wow. He really has his head stuck in Manticore. Max's connections with ordinary people have shown her a different side to life, but it doesn't look like Zack has had good experiences to offset his "programming". I wonder if he really expects all of them to run for the rest of their lives, or if he has something else in mind.

Zack's season1 storyline is one of the best thing on DA. Keep watching There is a lot more to Zack than what you see initially. I still think Zack and Alec are both way better than Logan ever was for Max. Just me though, others are free to disagree.

I totally agree, Alex. They both had a dangerous, yet very interesting side to them... that Logan never had. And the little bit of danger is what Max needs. And they were created together. They naturally feel very close to one another.

Anyone who didn't notice the obvious way the creators were pushing Max/Logan on the fans from the pilot...well, not very good at paying attention

The episode with the kid whose DNA is being manipulated (I do wish they'd put the episode titles in)--I almost died when Lydecker sat down right next to Max! Sounds like he's still busy with kids somewhere. Now I'm curious about what happened to the other kids who didn't escape along with Max. Do we ever find out?

That was the most incredible thing anyone can do for someone they deeply care about. That's why it's hard for me to see Max/Logan, knowing it's Zack's freaking heart in there!

Kathy...S1 didn't include the titles of the episodes, S2 does.

The episode with the kid is a great one, esp. the Max/Lydecker scenes. You will find out what happend to the ones left behind later
