Dark Angel on SciFi Discussion Thread

I hope it's okay that I started this thread. I haven't seen this show and since it started tonight on Sci-Fi, I'd like to talk about it, but not in a thread that has future spoilers. If it's not okay, just close it and i'll understand. It seems Sci-Fi is showing the 4 hour block every Monday. I had to work tongiht, so they're all recorded. I can't wait to start watching.

Stacy...no problem. I'm glad someone started it, and is watching the show.

I recently saw S1 on DVD myself, haven't seen it in years so I'll be here discussing whatever it is that you want to talk about My memory is fresh and I'm starting S2 on DVD this week.

No, Iren was the one that got them. I just borrowed them once. I keep meaning to buy them but I seem to always be out of money.

I'm sorry...hey, S1 was on sale at amazon.com for under 25 bucks Not sure if you can afford it, but it's definitely worth picking up if you have the cash at that price.

I started watching S2 on DVD...finished disc1...Proof of Purchase, the last we ever saw of the brillaint John Savage...aka Deck. What a fraking decision to get rid of his character and not bring him back, and also, the virus...how completely annoying all over again. If they were smart about it, this virus thing would have been cured by episode 4!

S2 is a complete blur to me. Might be because I only saw each ep once. I do remember being completely disappointed.

Well, I just finished disc2...eps 4-7 and yes, some very bad episodes were produced in S2.

I mean the crap that was "radar love" and "boo"...Come on! How can they do that to a show with so much promise.

"Two" was OK...with Joshua's mutant "brother" Isaac, and it also brought back Jensen on the show, which always improves it.

I hated the way things ended in "some assembly required", and what they did to Zack's character...sending him off to the farm with no memory. He was so close to shooting down Logan too! Just another second

On to disc 3 now and episode 8.

I tried an episode of DA back when it was running, and just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's because I didn't start from the beginning, because I tried again now that SciFi is running them in order, and I'm hooked after just the pilot. Definitely going to be stockpiling these. Some questions:

1. I'm assuming the world was in bad shape after the pulse because the government had been allowed to take over too much? Electronics/computers/etc. had obviously been repaired. Also, was it the whole country that was felled by the pulse, or just one area or one city?

2. Did I infer correctly that kids who developed seizures were....er.....disposed of? And that that's what was going to happen to Max if her friend hadn't intervened?

3. I can't believe Mr. Manticore head honcho didn't notice Max walking by carrying the kid toward the end even with the suit she was wearing. I'll bet the rest of his troops don't wear that much black eye liner.

Not to mention I'm sure he would have noticed her chest I bet none of the other troops looked like that either...with that much sticking out!! LOL

Definitely, Dark Angel is the kind of show you have to watch in order, most of the episodes are interconnected if you will, with a few exceptions, where they'll have a "stand alone story".

I'm glad that sci-fi channel is showing the show in order, for fans that want to catch up and don't want to buy, or don't have the DVD's.

1. Yes, the Entire US is now basically a third world "nation", but don't forget, in those countries, you still have a select few that are rich, and you have funds for military or what not. Basically crashes the market, people go jobless, and it elminates the entire middle class of the country. Things are expensive when you can find them, that kind of situation. As you watch the show more will be explained, I don't want to spoil it for you.

2. Not all the x-5's with that "flaw" were killed. Later on, after Max and the 12 escaped, Manticore developed a "cure" for it if you will. Max is taking those pills and she needs it to stay alive, othewise, she goes into shock and dies. Again, more about those seizers will be answered as you watch the show.

3. Very simple explanation for that. Remember, they were just kids when they escaped, they grew up. They look completely different. The last photographs of Max and the ones who escaped are 10 years old. Lydecker has those, that's it. There are also women soldiers, regular ones, in his unit. That's why he didn't recongnize her. You will see later on, what the advantages of Max not being recongnized by Lydecker bring Just keep watching the show. It gets better with a few exceptions.
