‘Penny Dreadful’ Renewed for Season 3 at Showtime | TVLine

Showtime has renewed its gothic drama Penny Dreadful for a third season, the network announced Tuesday.

The nine-episode Season 3 will shoot on location in Dublin, Ireland, (as did Seasons 1 and 2) and will debut in 2016.

“[Writer and executive producer] John Logan’s brilliant writing and this amazingly talented ensemble continue to draw a passionate, global fan base into the meticulously crafted world of Penny Dreadful,” Showtime Networks Inc. president David Nevins said in a statement.

He continued: “Together with our wonderful partners at Sky Atlantic, we’re excited to see what new haunts John and his team have in store for Season 3.”

Penny Dreadful airs Sundays at 10/9c and will wrap its second season on July 5.

I'm so happy! I was really worried about the ratings, but thankfully we're still in the safe zone.

Too bad it's going to be one episode shorter than this season, but oh well.

I wonder what direction they'll take. I know they wanted to focus on human villains this season, but I'm hoping we get more supernatural stuff on season 3

Episode 8 pretty much assured us Master is coming back. With a brother so famous, he's not one to be easily put aside.
