I'd stopped watching The Tudors years before and I wasn't in the fandom so I was unaware that his character in The Crocodile had any special significance. I remember watching the swordfight with Rumple and really wondering who this guy was! As usual on Once I started the episode hating his character, but by the end he had my sympathy. I have very clear memories of watching episode 2.06 Tallahassee, for the first time. I should explain, that from the Pilot episode I fell in love with Emma Swan. I identified with her damage and loneliness, and desperately from the beginning I wanted her to find love and happiness. I liked her with Graham, but before I was too invested he died, then I wondered if August was the one, but quickly decided against that. I watched Tallahassee with increasing excitement throughout the episode, getting on the edge of my seat, then bouncing up and down, by the end I was yelling at the screen, 'That's the One! Emma! That's the One!'. I was so disappointed when she chained him up and left him there, I think I was shouting, 'No!'. So I spent the rest of season 2 hoping desperately that Emma wouldn't let Neal back into her heart. I so loved the ending to season 2, Hook coming back was a pivotal moment and the ship disappearing was so good. However, Channel 5 for who-knows-what reason dropped the show, and I didn't see it again until Netflix UK picked it up two years ago. Showing episodes of 4B at the time. So it was different seeing season 3 as a Netflix binge-watch, but I have to say I love watching 3A. The situation is so much different to other parts of Once as the heroes and villains are forced to work and live together. For the first time Hook is with people who are not using his revenge to use him and betray him when his usefulness ends. I like seeing this transition, where he saves David's life, not just because he likes Emma but also because he doesn't want to watch someone-else die like his brother did, and saved him despite Pan's temptations. It wasn't until I saw the Captain Swan kiss in the last episode of season 3 that I became totally obsessed with this couple, that is still the hottest kiss I've ever seen on TV, and I'm constantly amazed at how real their relationship has seemed throughout. I was very nervous at the end of season 4 (by which time I was watching the episodes each week), as it seemed to me a new season would be very bad for Captain Swan, and the ending was so upsetting, I became obsessed with BTS stuff, spoilers etc, and that is when I fully joined the fandom. It was also the time I found out through interviews how lovely Colin really is. How everyone he works with loves him, how he's nervous in interviews, how he covers that nervousness with humour, and basically how he's a thoroughly great guy. As well as being incredibly attractive, and an awesome actor. His acting is such a delight to watch. He makes time for his fans,does charity work, is a great friend, plays the guitar and sings, and is happy married with two kids. I also have to say thanks to the other posters on the Colin O'Donoghue thread who have accepted me into their midst with such kindness and consideration. It took a deal of courage for me to post on FF the first time, and more courage to post on the Colin site for the first time. I felt like an intruder to begin with. It took time for me to understand how the games worked, and more courage to post on these. But when sourburst invited me to have a title change for the anniversary, I felt accepted, and then didn't look back.
