It annoys me because it ignores the continuity of the entire show going back to the sixties, and the idea of changing sex is not only ridiculous, it's just been shoved in as a recent thing. No Timelord has ever changed sex, now suddenly they can? It's nothing against the actress, she's probably great, but the premise behind it is just irritating.
