Makes you want to say to him "pot meet kettle" / "look in the mirror" etc etc. when he told her to stop acting like a child.
But he likely had a trove of students he could get in his bed after her, so he didn't have to nurture the relationship at all. Didn't like her enough to try.

It reminds me of Armie Hammer. He's into BDSM and he said he'd never do it with his wife because he respects her too much. So if he doesn't respect you, he'll do it. That's totally Prof H. With his wife he probably doesn't make uncomfortable requests but with students it's all fair game.

It looked like he was living in the same place, so it would’ve been difficult to hide a wife when Carrie was around. And with Carrie then being sort of involved with an engaged man, and having a problem with it, I don’t think she would’ve gone for Harrison if he was married.
