Woke up early this morning and watched the episode on my MacBook. Colin's southern accent was okay. There were times I think little bit of 'Hook' came through though. The lake scene was everything.

I can never tell what a good and bad southern accent is. I do know I loved seeing him play a liar, a manipulative scoundrel, and ofc his character got hurt in the end because it wouldn't be a Colin role if he didn't get hurt.

I'd have to watch it again to decide.
During my initial viewing I didn't get that impression. I thought he wanted the money all for himself and no matter who his partner was he would've backstabbed that person. __________________

I think he regretted bringing his old partner back once he realized that she wanted to kill Maddie. He started to feel guilty.

That could be. Or he regretted bringing her back because she was causing him more problems/headaches than he wanted and he got less headaches from Maddie. Maddie was the easier of the two to manipulate / deal with.
