she hasn't. Laurel has been far too patient. I think my problem with this story is that the narrative is framed liked he loved Sara more and meanwhile he just looks really really bad. Sara would not want him to do this and I say this as someone who never cared for the character.

That is true that this is making it seem that he favorite Sara

though what he said at the graveyard scene in The Return also makes me think its the other way around; how he said Laurel is very much like himself

Hmm.. I don't get the impression at all

If even I think it's the other way around.. he thought he could always count on Laurel because they had a special connection and she disappointed him in a way he couldn't imagine and this combined with the (second) loss of his other daughter is what makes him so... blind and full of anger.. That's how I see it..

I don't see it the way you do because losing Sara made him go off the rails twice. The way he treats laurel both then and now is just awful. I do think he loves her, but I also think Quentin is the sort of father who embarks on a very selfish love. He takes things way too far and maybe that's where Laurel gets her emotionality from. They both take things to heart so easily, but the way he has reacted now and in the past does not make me feel like Laurel is his favorite. Actions speak louder than words imo.

I think that's what losing a kid can do to you..

Aaaand both times she didn't just die from a disease or anything.. everytime there's someone to easily blame for what happened..

I'm sure he'll see reason soon.. I just fear what'll it has to be to get through to him :/

I don't know what will get through to him. I understand the thought of losing a child and yes people cope differently, but most people don't take it out on their remaining children or atleast good parents don't. They're just taking his anger too far imo.

IMO that has nothing to do with being a good parent. because you can easily feel betrayed by your own children, specially when you trust them like Quentin trusted Laurel.. and I think that's what he feels like

I agree it's been taken too far, but I can understand his motives..

I can sort of understand it but he did a very similar thing in S2 with lying to Laurel so I think he's being a bit hypocritical about it all.

exactly and quentin has never been portrayed as a good parent imo. I want laurel and quentin to reconcile for Laurel's sake.

Really really hope that Quentin takes his time with Joe to heart

not looking for a complete 180% in his attitude towards Laurel but at least for him to start acting better towards her. Progress and by the end of the season for them to be alright again, really miss these two being father x daughter
