I think Kristen is better suited for indie, more peculiar roles. I wasn't crazy about her playing the romantic heroine in either this or Twilight.

What about Gemma Arterton or Hayley Atwell?

I love Hayley! And she knows how to play strong, interesting characters.

I found the scene where he cries on YT if you want to check it out, Nikole:

THAT scene makes me cry every time-the speech he made over
Snow White's body-there were a lot of ladies/girls crying over this scene
in the theater every time I saw it.
Since I'm a Kristen fanatic and a Twilight fanatic, I might not be on this thread
much. But, just came here to say, I loved this movie and always will.

Stay and post whenever you want to join in! We can have the most different opinions, but all of them are welcome and it can actually get more interesting to chat when there are different tastes and points of view at confront. As long as it stays in good fun and respectful.

I didn't get to see the film in theatre - I can imagine how pretty it must have looked on the big screen!

Thanks! Unfortunately, Kristen gets a lot of hate and flak from
everyone, it seems like sometimes. So, I'm a llittle sensitive when
it comes to her and Twilight, same thing goes for Twilight.
As long as there's no Kristen bashing, it's fine. That's when I
get ticked. Every actress is not everyone's taste-I get that-I don't particularily
like Jennifer Lawrence but I admit she has talent and I never bash her. Just
don't get people who do that sort of thing.
on the bath scene-that was funny!
Charlize Thereon scared the crap outta me in this movie!

And yes, this movie was so gorgeous on the big screen! Stunning, actually!
The special effects and the cinementography should have won Oscars. It was nominated
for costumes and makeup but didn't win either.

I just went to internet movie database and it says The Huntsman is in pre-production and the year is 2016 for it's release.

I've experienced myself what it means to like something or someone very popular, too - the most famous and talked about they are, the more you'll find a lot of negative comments. It comes a bit with the territory, as they say.
I hate when the critics are completely random and gratuitous, though.

She truly went wild in some scenes. Perhaps even too much, but the creepy effect was achieved for sure!

Too bad it had a bit of a choppy editing, otherwise the cinematography would have been even more impressive!
I remember the make-up nomination, but somehow missed the one for the costumes. Nice.

And finally things are starting to move forward a bit, although a bit messily because it looks like Darabont left the directing's chair.

Speaking of, some casting news:
Quote:
Emily Blunt in Negotiations to Play Villain in 'The Huntsman' Opposite Chris Hemsworth (Exclusive)

The “Into the Woods” actress will play Charlize Theron’s evil sister The Snow Queen

Hot off a win at the Critics Choice Awards for “Edge of Tomorrow,” Emily Blunt is in negotiations to join Chris Hemsworth in Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” sequel “The Huntsman,” multiple individuals with knowledge of the project have told TheWrap.

Director Frank Darabont abruptly left the high-priority project this week but Universal is moving full-steam ahead and a new filmmaker is expected to be hired next week.
Universal did not confirm the casting, though sources did confirm Darabont’s exit, citing creative differences. Representatives for Blunt did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hemsworth is reprising his role as Eric, the Huntsman who aided Kristen Stewart‘s Snow White in the original Rupert Sanders film. The sequel sends the Huntsman on a quest to find the magic mirror (which has been stolen), forcing him to face not only his past but the evil Snow Queen who’s set on avenging her sister Ravenna’s death.

Charlize Theron will return as the villainous Ravenna and Blunt is making a deal to play her sister, the evil Snow Queen.

Joe Roth is producing the film, which will be executive produced by Palak Patel. Darabont wrote the current draft of the screenplay, with earlier drafts by Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

Universal executives Maradith Frenkel and Chloe Yellin will oversee the project for the studio, which will release “The Huntsman” on April 22, 2016. The first film in the fantasy franchise grossed nearly $400 million worldwide.
So it's a sequel, not a prequel? I'm confused once again.

Very interesting. This does not sound like the PREQUEL they
said they were making. Hmmm. Another script was written
apparantly. You're not the only one confused, Hawthorn!

Perhaps Darabont dropped out when the studio decided to completely change the focus of the story, going with a completely different period of time. That made the script he worked on completely null - I wouldn't be happy with that, either.

I don't know how well the prequel would've done, but I'm equally unsure about a sequel. Besides being curious over what reason they'll give for Snow White's absence (she's on vacation? She married the prince as a rebound after realizing Eric was emotionally unavailable and they are away on their honeymoon? ), having the Huntsman on a quest while an evil woman wants him dead feels very very similar to the plot of the first movie.
Oh well, we'll see. I was going to watch the second for Chris alone and not for the storylines, anyway.
