If it seems like your A/C is working overtime, but your house doesn't seem to be cooling, have your A/C ppl check to see if the filters needs to be cleaned or changed. You would not believe how many people don't even know that the outside unit has a filter and that it should be cleaned at least once a year. Most of the time, they only service the ones inside the house and never check the outside unit.

yes...maybe...I just changed the filter inside-it was really bad...but it didn't seem to help, and it should have.

is it a window a/c ? how old is the unit? maybe you just need a new one

It's a big outdoor one. It's about 8 years old. But it's been flooded at least 3 times...I call the repair people and they come and clean it out. The filter goes inside the house tho. Can't afford a new air conditioner or heat pump right now. Maybe someday.

Thanks! It's not so bad-I have 4 fans and I'm gonna get another one-a pedestal fan so it will cool me. I have box fans for the dogs and we make do. I always remember that a lot of people are much worse off-at least, I have air and electric and a house and car that are paid for.
