The very first PS3 model with four USB ports had PS2 backward compatible support, but the hardware for it was removed with the release of newer models. PS1 backward compatibility is available throughout all PS3 models.

Removing the hardware and taking away the BC never made sense to me

I'm desperate to play Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat trilogy so I'm thinking of breaking down and buying one

Nothing would make me happier than if PS4 got backwards playback for ps3 and before. I'd love to go through some games like Top Spin 4 and the original version of Marvel vs Capcom 3 Fate of Two Worlds (I like that better than the Ultimate version).

So i've been so lazy with my Playstation game catching up on. I have God of War and Yakuza 6 downloaded and all i've been doing is more call of duty or UFC or WWE, lol. Like, I have these amazing games and i'm just playing some of the same ole! But the new MLB game is really good this year. I recommend that to any baseball game fans.
