Onion, I heard. Many people who ordered their Wii have to have their shipment delayed because of this.

Want to gamble on videogames?

This could be good but at the moment, I do not like the idea due to outside variables such as if I were playing against someone in the US on my Xbox 360 (CoD4 for example) and they were hosting, I would have a distinct disadvantage where the lag for me would be in between 2-3 seconds from when I hit a button or move the analogue stick and when I see it on screen... So I could die very-easily, that would mean I would lose HEAPS of cash that way... It happens all the time on CoD4 as it is - when I am playing a 1 or 2 bar game. Anything above 1/2 a second lag is unplayable really.

Well, now things are really getting interesting. Not three full days have passed since Sony made headlines by announcing a $100 price cut for the PlayStation 3, and Microsoft has apparently made a price cut play of its own with the Xbox 360 Elite.

Kotaku reports that the August 30th Wal-Mart catalogue shows the 120GB Elite on sale for $299. The $100-off ad is the second such ad to be reported on in the past couple weeks, suggesting that perhaps this isn’t just some twisted Photoshop prank designed to mess with prospective shoppers’ minds.

The best part about the Elite price drop (if it does in fact happen) is not that we’ll get to see Microsoft and Sony battle it out for console domination, but rather that consumers will now have two fantastic gaming consoles available to them for a very reasonable price. In fact, this could very well be the beginning of a console war truce, since single console owners can now pick up both for the original price of the PS3.

Do you think this Elite price drop is a definite go? If so, any PS3 owners thinking about picking one up?

In response to the price drop on the PS3 and 360, Nintendo is reducing the price of the Wii to $199, which will happen Sept. 27th.

'Uncharted 2' nabs top prize at Video Game Awards

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The cinematic action adventure Uncharted 2: Among Thieves nabbed three prizes including game of the year at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.
The PlayStation 3 exclusive was named top game for that console and honored for its graphics at the awards show Saturday night at the LA Live complex in downtown, which featured appearances from Stevie Wonder, Green Day and Jack Black. Snoop Dogg and The Bravery performed.

"I want to see the companies that make these video games make them accessible so that people like myself can enjoy them too," Wonder said before presenting the best music game award to "The Beatles: Rock Band."

Green Day announced that they would be featured in a similar standalone title by game maker Harmonix, Green Day: Rock Band, to be released next year.

Jake Gyllenhaal promoted his Jerry Bruckheimer-produced action movie based on the Prince of Persia games, due out next summer, and presented the game of the year award.

Uncharted 2 earned raves from critics when it was released in October, and from attendees Saturday ranging from actor Zach Braff to Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski.

"We knew when we were making this game it was going to be good, but nobody could have predicted this kind of success," said Nolan North, the voice actor who plays Uncharted 2's lead character Nathan Drake.

He said he and developers at Naughty Dog studios had celebrated the game's big sales "by kicking around ideas for Uncharted 3, because that's what we want to do."

Zachary Quinto of Star Trek said he'd be lending his voice to the upcoming massively multiplayer online game Star Trek Online. Mike Tyson made an appearance alongside the cast of MTV's new Jersey Shore reality show, who hogged attention backstage.

"Everybody in the green room is pushing all these mega-celebrities out of the way," Braff said. "Get out of the way Sam Jackson, I think 'The Situation' is coming in."

Besides the awards, the show's focus was on never-before-seen previews of upcoming titles, including the rebooted, Afghanistan-set Medal of Honor, Batman: Arkham Asylum 2, Crackdown 2, The Force Unleashed 2 and Halo: Reach.

That AvP game has now been unbanned and will be released uncut/uncensored (it is now classified as 'scifi' so gets past by a clause..) How can a ZOMBIE game such as L4D2 not come under the same lame arse title too?!
