3x10 - episode discussion

In the aftermath of Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) fight with Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Arsenal (Colton Haynes) continue to protect the city in the Arrow’s absence. However, after three days without hearing from Oliver, they begin to fear the worst may have happened to their friend. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) refuses to believe that Oliver could be dead until Merlyn (John Barrowman) pays the team a surprise visit. Thea (Willa Holland) suspects there is something more behind Oliver’s disappearance and asks Merlyn for a favor. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) tests a part of his new suit and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) takes up the mantle of the Black Canary.

Glen Winter directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Erik Oleson (#310).

I was both looking forward to and dreading this episode because while I wanted to see the reactions of Felicity, Diggle, and Roy to Oliver's "death", I knew this was going to be the beginning of the Laurel trilogy, and I'm just not a fan of hers.

Surprisingly, I really loved this episode. It's actually one of my favorites of the season.

Loved the Felicity/Diggle scenes. Diggle not trying to take away her hope while at the same time trying to prepare her for the worst case was great.

Malcolm's scenes at the foundry were good. Malcolm telling Diggle to put his gun away and Diggle bringing out a second one was funny.

Loved seeing Felicity vs Malcolm. She was so angry and she had every right to be. I did like the fact that he told her he could see how much she loved Oliver because it was the first time they actually said what Felicity's feelings for him were.

I totally got why Felicity did what she did by closing that door on Diggle and Roy. They were getting the behinds handed to them and if they had went after the truck, it would not have ended well for them.

I actually didn't mind the Ray/Felicity scenes, but I'm not here for them turning into a romance.

I felt so bad for Diggle when he said that he still saw himself as Oliver's bodyguard and that he couldn't save him.

Loved Maseo saving Oliver, but I was really shocked that Tatsu was there as well.
