it felt like a transitional episode-just setting things up. But I know there are good things to come so I don't mind

Yeah, I didn't like this episode nearly as much, but hopefully there are intriguing things to come!

I hate seeing Jamie and Claire in conflict. :/

Claire and Murtagh have an extremely close relationship. He has walked in when she was still in her post-o glow, she walked in the middle of him having sexy times, keeping secrets together from Jamie...ah, awkward closeness...

OK, I have to voice something that is very likely to be shouted down with disapproval, but it has been bothering me the last couple episodes...I did allude to it in my previous post.

Let me say first that I adore Murtagh - he has maintained to be one of my very favorite characters since his first, grouchy appearance in 1x01. I'm not familiar with the books other than 'Outlander', and I don't remember it well. So maybe these scenes are just straight out of the book. Or maybe there is a good explanation for it. Or maybe I just have a disturbed, messed up mind that looks at things cockeyed. (entirely possible) But...Does anyone else feel like they've made some odd filming decisions in regards to how they portray Murtagh/Claire's relationship?

Murtagh is supposed to be a father figure right? He is like a father to Jamie, so that makes him father in law, essentially, to Claire. And yet, they chose to have him walk in last season right after Jamie had pleasured Claire and she was in a happy post-o daze. Honestly, I was shocked at that last year. It seemed like kind of a weird, almost erotic choice. But, whatever. Then this year they have Murtagh gawking at Claire's boobs in her red dress to the point where Jamie shoves him. Then, this episode Claire walks in on him and her maid doing...thangs...and she doesn't appear to be embarrassed that she saw it and he isn't embarrassed that she saw it.

All I can say is that if I experienced any of those situations with my FIL, I'd be...weirded out to say the least.

Aren't those kind of weird filming choices for a relationship that is supposed to have a father-daughter vibe? Am I looking at this completely wrong?

I think I'm probably struggling even more with this at the moment because I hate seeing Jamie and Claire having conflict and sometimes there seems to be more emotional intimacy between her and Murtagh and Murtagh and Jamie, then there is between Jamie and Claire. Maybe I'm just being super nitpicky.

I never felt like Murtagh was a father figure. All these occurrences you mention are natural-post-orgasmic glow, looking at breasts, happening on someone having sex. What's so strange about that?

I'm watching it right now, I'll voice my opinions on the Claire/Murtagh relationship after I've finished it

I find it uncomfortable only because of the way I perceive Murtagh/Claire's relationship (like a father in law). And because I *have* a father in law and would be really horrified by any of those situations happening (acknowledging it openly I mean), lol. But I maybe just have the wrong idea of what Murtagh/Claire's relationship is supposed to be like (since you don't perceive him as a father figure). It would have been a lot less strange to me if it had been Angus, Rupert or Dougal in those situations.

I guess I just always figured that since his feelings towards Jamie are fatherly, that his feelings towards Claire would grow to be similar, her being Jamie's wife.

What type of relationship do you guys perceive it to be? Just close friendship? Like Angus or Rupert, but much closer?
