^Raw material is of course better, but there's nothing wrong with fan fiction. Especially us writers, we turn to it.

I bet the fans would be so happy. I mean she hasn't rules against it, fans are just scared to go against her wishes I guess, but I'm guessing one day there will be a decent one on wattpad

It's not fear , it's respect. Her fans are respecting her wishes. It's a nice thing.

As Kate said up thread, there will be viewers of the show unfamiliar with the books or DG's wishes and they'll probably write fic. That really can't be helped, I suppose.

I honestly don't get the point in this universe. There aren't CJ moments to write about. The books once they marry are their story. There's no gaps to fill. Unless you want some of those moments from Jamie's POV. There's not really AU unless it's that she makes it back at an earlier point. Like FC.

I don't read a lot of fic, I'm so damn picky, but I do write. It's fun to play with characters without having to develop them from scratch. Which is both DG & GRRM's points, he thinks it does nothing constructive for a potential writer. He thinks writers should spend time developing their own characters.

Personally, I don't have time to do that. I haven't written in months because work is overwhelming and I also semi fear getting myself into something that isn't a oneshot. Or maybe my beta should browbeat me to write!

But I would personally never write for a universe that the creator objected to their characters being played with. Especially if it's still an ongoing story that is still being written & developed as Kate mentioned.

As a point of information, all the major ASOIAF sites don't even allow fic to be discussed or mentioned out of respect for GRRM.

Have you read the books? Because they're the story of Jamie & Claire Fraser. Period. The end.
