That's no fun that you work weekends. My husband has to work this weekend and next so that puts a damper on my weekend

How many books are there for this show/series?

I'm still only on the first book!
I'm excited! I was able to use my Outlander love in my creative writing course at university this week! We had to discuss book adaptions and how we felt they transitioned, etc. And if changes were made - why we thought they chose to do so and if it added or took away from the adaption. I used Franks viewpoint in the last episode as an example of a change that was made and reasoned that I think it was done partially so we can differentiate Frank and Randall from each other since they look exactly alike, which wouldn't be as big of a problem in the book as it would be visually on screen. Plus it also gives us more insight as to why Claire would want to go back - she has a husband that loves her and is looking for her. As well, we cannot read Claire's thoughts all the time as we can in the books. |

Grrr, I really dislike my professor though. She replied to my lengthy description of how I felt Frank's appearance added to the story with: "But, to expand -- do you think one is better than the other? For example, do you think having Frank's POV in the show adds to the story? Or do you like being just focused on Claire?" --- I'm pretty sure she skimmed my stuff and didn't even bother reading it, because I literally mentioned all of those things.... I started my second paragraph with There have been changes that have been made, but I do feel they add to the story. An example of this is: (insert a lengthy description about Frank's appearance, how it happened differently than the book, how it was set up and how I felt it ADDED TO THE STORY for viewers.)

Well, she didn't like the fact that I chose Outlander, she thinks the books are too long and seems negative about it's potential as a television series because of this and think it's too early to talk about. (I don't know why I can't discuss what has happened up until now?) She says I should have chosen a film to compare, yet someone else wrote about True Blood and she didn't tell them that and was friendly in her reply... Wth?

I'm not negative towards the books, but they are long. I mean their are periods of time in these books where I think she could have just cut, but hey each to their own
Anyway, off topic Anyone have any plans for the weekend? |
