do NOT discuss future books here

1778: France declares war on Great Britain, the British army leaves Philadelphia, and George Washington’s troops leave Valley Forge in pursuit. At this moment, Jamie Fraser returns from a presumed watery grave to discover that his best friend has married his wife, his illegitimate son has discovered (to his horror) who his father really is, and his beloved nephew, Ian, wants to marry a Quaker. Meanwhile, Jamie’s wife, Claire, and his sister, Jenny, are busy picking up the pieces.

The Frasers can only be thankful that their daughter Brianna and her family are safe in twentieth-century Scotland. Or not. In fact, Brianna is searching for her own son, who was kidnapped by a man determined to learn her family’s secrets. Her husband, Roger, has ventured into the past in search of the missing boy . . . never suspecting that the object of his quest has not left the present. Now, with Roger out of the way, the kidnapper can focus on his true target: Brianna herself.

With the way this book ends, there's room for at least 1 more book.

Plus the characters are in their mid-50's. This is a story about a life time of one married couple. Very rare way to tell a story.

I'm about to stop off at the Library tonight to pick up the copy I have on hold ... Read the first 13 chapters from a sample online and am so frustrated that they've essentially only addressed two of the storylines that are in need of resolution after book 7.

It's like books 2/3 all over again. Two halves of a whole.

Finally done with the first section of the book and headed back to the 20th century. Not as much bouncing back and forth between times as I thought there would be ... Kind of strange, though, how so very little seems to have happened in 150 pages.

Yikes! How many pages in this book? Is this the one where it was too large for normal novel paper and they had to use thinner grade paper otherwise the book wouldn't bind?

Well I at least hoped the descriptions were enjoyable enough.

It's around 800, which for sure doesn't make it one of the longest. They were likely referencing 5/The Fiery Cross or 6/A Breath of Snow and Ashes, which were both lengthier than they really needed to be.

I'm glad I stuck it out until the beginning of part 2. It's not that nothing happened, just that there was a lot to backtrack through and sift with where the last book ended. The tone shifts considerably at part 2 and the action picks up like crazy, and those are the storylines I wanted to see the continuation for because that's where the biggest mystery is in this arc.

Continuing to enjoy the books, if only because DG manages to surprise me.

Ok. I got my novels crossed.

And the surprises continues that's comforting to know DG stays true to form.
