Oh how I have missed this show! The comedic timing is SO on point.
Episode 1: The cold opening with them wearing masks? YES. I like it when shows incorporate "real-life" issues... like Jake's awkwardness when first greeting Rosa due to the quarantine, Rosa's reason for leaving the force (George Floyd) and Holt talking about his struggles (BLM and policing) during 2020. This show does such a good job of addressing current relevant topics. Episode 2: Holt/Kevin  I burst out laughing when they did the bird calls  We need to see more of high!Rosa. high!Rosa/Scully was not something I was expecting  Overall, the premiere was amazing and I AM SO HAPPY that the show is back (despite it being the last season... it's all very bittersweet) __________________

Anyone catch Jake's line in "The Lake House"?
I had to watch it three times before I heard it properly. After Capt. Holt shouts out the name of the German novel (from which, supposedly, "The Parent Trap" is derived), Jake reacts by exclaiming, "I'm only half!"
I'm not sure if I am interpreting the line correctly, but I think Jake means that he is only half-Jewish and the joke is that he is reacting in terror to the brusque German statement. It's another one of those thinkers, as when Charles notes that Boyles are slow to recognize talent and says, "My cousin, Susan, didn't even know that she could sing until she was in her forties." Of course, when officer Debbie made the comment about misjudging her cousin, Jared, Jake spelled that joke out for us. Last edited by Spidergir1998; 08-18-2021 at 07:14 PM Reason: typo |

Great episodes, I'm so glad the show is back! Very interesting where they went as a result of the things happening in the world - I'm looking forward to see where it all shakes out by the end of the season. I'm just hoping it's not bittersweet! Hope our dads will get back together
