My guess is that Iris's coma issues will probably come out when she eventually finds out Barry is the Flash. That's when we'll see her freak out, since now he'll be willingly putting his life in danger.

That's most likely true and will happen she doesn't know that he does it yet so she won't think much until she see it

Their attempt to protect Iris is futile, she will be a journalist and sometimes they have to go into dangerous territory to get their story, Iris is not going to be any different.
