Last night's eppy was interesting. As much as Barry is trying to convince Iris that they will save her, she doesn't believe it. I feel like she's preparing for the worst.

I still think Barry is going to end up sacrificing himself for her and somehow getting sucked into the speedforce. It will be the most heroic and heartbreaking thing ever... then come Season 4, Iris will "sense" him and pull him out of the speedforce, and we'll see the "lightning rod" theory come to fruition.

Maybe Iris is the one who will suffer "A fate worse than death" - life without Barry (for a few months, anyway).

At first, I thought Joe would fall, giving Iris the fate worse than death. But I'm definitely leaning more towards your theory.

I can see Barry dying to save her , he died in the comics for years not for Iris but still I can see him dying for her and coming back to a new team dynamic with Wally having stepped up and taken the Flash mantle
