Iris West is a journalist in training. Barry Allen is the Flash (a.k.a The Red Streak). They grew up together after Barry's mother was murdered and Barry's father was convincted for her murder. Friendship; they are each other's best friends, they have a deep bond. Family;it's difficult for Barry to explain what he feels for Iris, she's the only family he had, but it runs so much deeper and Barry is just discovering that. Iris on the other hand is oblivious and fails to see what is right in front of her face.

After being hit by a lightning, Barry develops powers, now he is protecting the city from others like him, as the mysterious known as the R e d S t r e a k this will only further develop and complicate his relationship with Iris as her pursuit of journalism and the Streak will pull her closer to him but into danger.

Barry will work overtime alongside Iris's protective father (Joe), to keep his secret from Iris. Howeverwith Iris's inquistive nature and fasination with the impossible. She is determined to pursue the Flash.

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see how it's all presented.

The writers could have started them up just as friends but they decided to make Barry 100% in it (let's be real, he already sees her as his future wife) and Iris loves him already and just has to figure out the nature of that love so she's like 80% there already. So it's actually 14 years in the making.

I think we're used to the build up taking so long but the relationship itself doesn't truly begin till both decide that they want to be together but since television shows often find it difficult to make romantic relationships fun without useless drama, we often get worried. But I guess we'll have to trust the writers and see what they have planned.

Yeah, the quote ends up applying even more now given Grant's most recent interview. I think he's hilarious and is just not into being coy about love interests and encouraging shipper wars because he once again insists that Iris is the love of Barry's life.

I understand what you are saying, it has been a long time for Barry. I love this couple which is why I want them to do them justice. Barry has been waiting all these years, but I wouldn't call Iris at 80 percent. She is more at like 50% if so much. She has never thought about her feelings until now and she does care for Eddie, so it is 50/50 for me.

Hence I would love for them to address those things. Season finale or better yet in beginning of season 2 is fine for her to finally admit. However, with the pacing of the show it probably will be earlier and I will have to come to terms with that. When she eventually confesses, they better make it an epic one. If this show goes on for 5/6 seasons, I don't want the breakup/makeup crap that so many other couples do.
