The same way Iris always speaks on his behalf. There's never been a time she said, "Not much I can do" when the whole team was mad at him.

She defended him 3x02 to the whole team, against Harry, against Joe, against Ralph, she was even going to step in when Cisco was yelling at Barry in 4x22 but Harry pulled her back. She has defends him against pretty much anyone. As her husband and now father on their child, it's the least, the barest of minimums that he could do.

Another bare minimum would have been telling her in private. The same way found out in the vault and had a good cry. He just tells his wife he'll be gone for 25 years and leave her to be a single parent in a room full of people.

It doesn't add up.

He can't do anything if he doesn't know why Nora's being the way she is, and there's likely so much she can't tell him, so he may not be able to know why, so he can't resolve the situation.

Barry: Nora, why don't you want to spend as much time with your mom? Tell me what's going on. It's clear you love and respect me so I would be the one person who could actually resolve this.

Iris didn't know why Caitlin didn't want to forgive him for Flashpoint but she still managed to speak on Barry's behalf. Because that's what a good partner does. That was even before she was his wife.

Barry's being a passive husband and father. I'm not for it personally. I don't think there's a good excuse aside from poor writing. JMO.

the writers are so lazy...Nora’s likeability will suffer if she continues the eye rolls around Iris without a VERBAL confrontation in 5x03 or 5x04 at the absolute latest...Eric Wallace (the only black writer?) is very obviously responsible for writing Iris’ awesome reporter scenes — but Barry telling Iris he’s missing for almost the entirety of their kid’s life in a room full of people??? HA...so incredibly OOC...I was really disappointed with how that was handled, I’ll chalk it up to this episode being exposition for the next one since they seem to be a continuation...

Same. He gets his private moment to cry over but Iris he tells in front of everyone. Not just husband and wife or mother, father and child but peanut gallery included.

I appreciated the journalism we got and hope it's consistent. That satelitte should stay down all season.

Wells is back next episode.

I think we will get more of the two of them in the near future. Maybe I am just being optimistic, but I am trying to keep a good thought. I did miss our Barry, Iris scene this week.

I saw this today. I loved it and how Candice wants more of those scenes too.
