Flash Of Two Worlds [2.02] - Episode Discussion [October 13th, 2015]
 

Can't wait

Happy Flash day :yay:! I can't wait for this episode!

- Officer Patty Spivot. Not sure what to make of her yet. I kind of got a Wesley Crusher feeling from her, but maybe I'm jumping the gun here.

- So Caitlin has gotten over her dead husband in 6 months? That little talk with Jay didn't sit well with me. It's like "Yeah, lost my husband, but it's all good..."

I mean, I don't expect Caitlin to mourn forever. She had her moment in the premiere... but the writers seemed to be portraying her as being a bit dismissive of her loss here. It's a great disservice to her character.

Having said that, however, I think I may start shipping SnowJay, because they certainly had some palatable chemistry on-screen. (Yeah, I'm fickle... ;) ).

- Why was Barry not using his voice/face disguise thing with Patty? Does he just not care if she recognizes him?

- Zoom "needs to be the best"… hmm… I know a certain "dead" police officer who needed to be the best too. :eyebrow:

- Wait, Joe knew his wife was alive all this time? And he's been in contact with her?

I thought maybe she disappeared and he didn't know where she was… but all this time, she was just a phone call away?! WTF, Joe? Why did you let your daughter believe she was dead?! :confused:

I really hope there's a good reason for this, and she's not just some deadbeat mom.

- So… Cisco gets a "Vibe" when in contact with people (or parts of people) from Earth 2. I see what you did there, show.

- There's a Harrison Wells on Earth 2. That was to be expected, but is that Harrison Wells also a version of Eobard Thawne? He looked kinda shady at the end there.

This was better then the first episode but I was disappointed with them making Jay still new to the role. He's been The Flash 1 year longer then Barry when she should have been a seasoned pro and part of a team.

I don't blame caitlin, because just like she said, "it gets easier every day" aka, it gets easier every time. Poor lad dies so many times.

Looks like they are setting up Patty as Barry's new romance?

what doesn't sit well with me is iris' role in all this. does she work anymore? that one-on-one convo was kinda awkward since anyone of them could have said the same thing to Barry. they didn't need to leave the room.

and poor cisco, afraid of being one of the evil things created by wells. :(

DR. WELLS!! OMG. So surprised to see him at the end there! Looking a lot thinner but still very handsome. His "hi kids" was creepy though. LOL

Barry wouldn't have listened to anyone but Iris though.

On a side note: Anyone notice that Team Flash has now taken to killing the metas these past two episodes? What the heck is going on with that?

They're very reluctant to believe him, due to their past experience with Wells. And he cannot easily prove that he is the Flash in an alternate world, due to his loss of powers.

Episode was much better than the premeire.

However, I'm not sure what to think of Jay yet. He was still a bit boring this episode. I don't know what it was. Maybe the actor is bland. Don't hate. It's just how I felt. He could still grow on me.

Patty - another person I'm not sure about. She was a bit of suck up. I mean I know she wanted on the meta task force but it still came of more annoying then endearingly charming. The one real moment I liked her was when she was talking about her fathers death with Joe. So she also has room to grow on me. I fear they are gonna make Barry/Patty like Ray/Felcity. Way to similar. Loves all the same things, has the same interests, enjoys all the same jokes... I like contrast in my relationships. You need similarities yes but you also need differences and balance.

Iris- for the love of God give her more to do. She has a job. Let's see it.

So Earth two as a Wells at Stars lab. We all saw that coming. He did seem shady as hell though. So I don't know if he's Thawne there as well. Definitely intrigued by that.

Cisco and Stien - I'm starting to love them on screen together. Especially geeking out about stuff together. Love that Stein is the first person to find out about his vibes! :nod: Did Stein's collapse have something to with Ronnies demise? Dum dum dum.

You're the first person I have come across to make this very sensible comment, since reading an old Billy Wilder interview.


I found Jay a little stiff at first. However, by the end of the episode, he started to grow on me.

Thoughts on the episode:

Jay Garrick: I liked him a lot. Hope he sticks around for a while. (He's not too hard on the eyes, either!)

Barry's new power: Have to say that was pretty cool. Wonder when he'll need to use it again.

Francine West: Wonder how she'll try to get back into Joe & Iris' lives:eek:

Cisco: Hope he can get his powers under control, & doesn't keep it a secret from everyone for too long.

Iris' pep talk: She's the only who can get through to Barry, & made him relent (somewhat) on his feelings toward Jay. I hope that Barry will reciprocate soon & give Iris any encouragement that she may need.

All in all, it was a pretty decent episode, except for one thing:

Patty: DID. NOT. LIKE. HER. AT. ALL. Her "eager beaver" attitude, & taking down that perp before Joe even got there was just too ridiculous for words. And her fangirling over Barry's reports? :rolleyes: :censored: I can see why she wasn't a fan favorite in the comic books. She brought the episode down for me, & she took valuable screentime away from other characters *cough*Iris*cough*. The sooner she's gone, the better.

The bolded. That's how I feel about Patty (except I really didn't have any sympathy for her sorrynotsorry), & I don't think she's gonna grow on me. And yes, give Iris something more to do.

OMG I don't care what happens the rest of the season, this may just end up being in one of my top favorite episodes this year!!!

Jay- I totally loved Jay. He's always been one of my favorites in the comics so to see a live action version of him, very cool.

The Team/Barry- I really liked how Barry was mis-trustful of Jay. He's so scared of opening up to another person who wants to teach him so that was understandable.

Loved how all it took was the helmet that according to Barry would have just saved all the trouble.

And Barry's new lightning power- totally sick!!!!

Patty- I'm unsure about her but I think she'll come around.

Cisco- Gah we saw more of his powers! For him to voice his own concerns was great and he used the word that will eventually become his code name, Vibe!

-Totally loved the easter egg about there being '52' of those tears that they found.

-Oh we got to see and hear Zoom! Didn't think it would happen so quickly.

-Harrison Wells in Earth 2!!!!

-Francine West. Holy fk, why is she back?! And with her not being part of their lives I always just assumed she was either dead or abandoned them. Should be interesting to see what kind of situations she stirs up for Joe and Iris.

-OMFG the part that totally killed me was that scene where Patty called out "Flash" and both Flash's replied "I'm Coming," and then they were separated by the wall. Gah the comic book and the promo poster as an actual scene! :thud:

Still looking forward to 2x03 for good stuff :nod:

Patty's introduction was kinda good but they're already hitting me over the head with how perfect she's for Barry :rolleyes: Geek love is overrated to me, especially on a show where almost everyone is a scientist. Patty fangirling over Barry Allen was cringeworthy!

I liked Joe/Patty scenes better, there's potential for a good partnership there...which is kinda sad since Patty could very well be another person Joe neglects his own daughter for :sigh:

Caitlin is smitten :blush: SnowJay were cute and I might start shipping them but I want Ronnie to never come back! The uncertainty about Ronnie's faith was the reason why Caitlin got inconsistent characterization in the past and I doubt a triangle will do her character any good.

20 minutes into the episode and I was wondering why Iris was there, she was completely useless...until her scene with Barry! I'm glad she was the one who could get through to him but I want to see more of their friendship, I didn't like Barry's attitude :( I find it funny that they repeat ad nauseam that WA can't happen now because Iris is grieving...except she's not! WA can't happen because Barry feels guilty while Iris isn't allowed any POV...2X03 is their last chance to prove me wrong on that front!

I don't like Cisco keeping secrets about what's happening to him, it's a lame excuse to stall his storyline.

It was great to see E2!Harrison :D I wonder if E2!Eobard is a good guy while E2!Harrison is RF, is it possible?
