I think he wanted to be evil, because his father was evil, but it wasn't in his nature, he was just a brat, mean and haughty, but not evil. He kept having breakdowns, because his future scared him, yet he didn't have enough backbone to break away from the darkness and choose the right path... he got stuck in between, that's why he annoyed me in the last book.
