That situation has always made me curious. Lamar knew that Deacon is Maddie's biological father but didn't know that Teddy knew.
I can't imagine that Lamar would have been someone Rayna would have chosen to let in on that secret. They hadn't been that close. He's manipulative and controlling and not above using that as blackmail material. And if she were to tell him I don't see why she wouldn't just tell him that Teddy already knew. So was Lamar suspicious, knowing DR's history, and started poking around? Paid someone a lot of money to find out about and get a copy of the paternity test? Confronted Rayna with his suspicions? Got Tandy to tell him? __________________

I actually always got the feeling that this
was the first time Rayna realized he knew. And I also imagine that he dug around, solely due to the obsession he had surrounding Rayna's mother and her affair. He was much of their mother in Rayna, so he's crazy enough to jump to the worst conclusion and go to really ~soapy lengths to have that confirmed. __________________

Also surprising, though, that she didn't go ahead then and tell him Teddy knew. |

I felt like that was either the first time she realized that he knew... or just the first time he played that card to try to threaten her with
It was established that he was keeping tabs on her life, pulling the occasional string without her ever knowing. So I'm sure he did some digging. I can also see him just being suspicious, confronting Tandy like he already knew for sure and Tandy accidentally slipping something. And so Tandy tells Rayna that she accidentally slipped to Lamar, so Rayna knew that he knew but it wasn't something they ever openly acknowledged. __________________

that is what I call good characterization for Rayna as a guarded individual who's lets down her walls in rare situations
