I think Avery has always been a it doesn't matter (status) person however I am sure it was on his mind sometimes when people like Charlie in 219 tried to make him think Juliette would see him as a nobody but again that was one of the many many things that they barely addressed for the sake of drama. Juliette never knew about the convo but of course she had to see Avery protective of Scarlett over Charlie hitting on her when she was out of it.

I am happy JJ is doing the Nash chat tomorrow figure that would be the after episode he would have a chance to be part of. I could have seen last week but I think 98% of the cast was working that day so they got Maddie's new love interest to do it.

Definitely in S1 before he had his redemption conversion I think he was trying to get to know her because of her superstardom but when they actually became friends I don't think he cared. He's always been the one to actually see her as she is. Charlie was definitely trying to make Avery think he wasn't on her level but it didn't work. What I would have wanted them to address is the money/class inequality between them. They dealt with it just a little when they first got together and he didn't want her buying dinner for him all the time, but they kind of dropped it. I always loved this dynamic between them and felt like it was fertile ground - before their marriage and the PPD - because Juliette is rich as sin but she doesn't care at all about money. Which is interesting because she came from NOTHING. You'd think she'd have a hangup about it but she doesn't.

On a kind of related note, I think one of Juliette's love languages is receiving (giving) gifts - this is how she expresses affection. From Deacon's dog and letting Avery use her studio to Halle's car. But it isn't Avery's love language (words of affirmation/acts of service) and so he took her buying dinner/accepting that Edgehill deal as an affront when she didn't mean it that way. They need to read that book.

^ I hope they not only read the same book, but hopefully they will stay on the same page. I am so apprehensive about 504. Not thinking things will necessarily stay good for them after the episode.

You might want to edit your post anything that hasn't been on the air is considered spoilers. I want to address some of it though but can't in this thread. Will address the aired stuff and be vague enough with the other stuff. I agree about the bathroom stuff looking bad and the nodding stuff looking emotional but the rest mentioned I don't think looks bad. I don't think Layla specifically needs to be brought up but the stuff he said when he turned her down and how he acted after does. And I think the it is just being there taking care of her after what he said IMO when they were on tour, I think that will be the way they have that convo. Just a guess.

Positive thoughts. I know we've been jerked around and repeatedly disappointed for a VERY long time but I'm going into this one anticipating that it'll be THE episode we've been waiting for. They have to talk. It's long overdue. Way past time for them to hash things out about their past and move forward with some clarity of where they stand. I'm super excited about it.

Avery's not taking that kid back to Gunnar's and leaving Juliette - who he has repeatedly said he loves and will be there for and thinks is amazing, etc. I think worst case scenario is them agreeing to be friends right now. I can't imagine that he'd ever leave her alone in her present condition. I don't think it'll go down that way at all.

I totally agree. This is headed in a positive direction. All the signs are there. They may decide to go slowly, but there's no way they're headed in a friendship-only relationship. Not with calling each other "babe," or kissing in the van, or him saying he loves her. You don't ask someone to define your relationship with them, if you want the answer to be "just friends."

However, I am less optimistic about how much talking we'll get. I'd love for a conversation that really hashes things out, but I'd settle for much less as long as they talk.

I'm pessimistic, though, that Avery will do anything other than be part of Juliette's story this week. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I just think other characters will be featured a lot more.

I agree with everyone here I do think we will end the episode with Javery together but I also think it's more likely they will agree to take it slowly - but not as friends that date other people, much more than that. These are two people who love each other deeply but they have been through terrible times and they both need time to heal and trust and that doesn't happen overnight.

I think it could be a rollercoaster episode - starting off with hope then a bit of despair in the middle and please please coming back to at least hope and promise at the end.

There is no scenario where I can see Avery leaving Juliette's either. He couldn't take Cadence away from Juliette just because Juliette might not be ready for a real relationship with him just yet and he wouldn't leave Cadence with Juliette and move back to Gunnars himself.

I am hoping for a conversation that addresses what Avery said about hating his love for Juliette and wanting to move on with his life. They can mention Layla or not but this has to be talked about. In Nashville time this was just a few weeks ago. My god he was still with Layla the day the plane went down.

This is me everytime I look at the JJ .gifs

I agree. I don't think Avery will do that but I would like it to be addressed in the future that he could because of the rights thing because technically Avery could decide tomorrow that he is taking Cadence to a desert island and never coming back and Juliette would have no say legally to stop it. But we will be lucky if the show ever address the rights thing.

I am really excited for tonight's episode. There are a few reasons I think it will end our way and seeing how much promo saying it's the episode that the J/A fans must see... I doubt they would say that for a lets be friends only forever episode.

i actually can't figure out their ages. I think in the pilot, Avery was 24? I think Juliette is supposed to be younger though.
