Eternity [Deacon ♥ Rayna] #29: "Sometimes I just wish I could do everything all over again." "What would you change?" Everything. Nothin'."
((ETERNITY)) #29 rayna jaymes & deacon claybourne appreciation thread until the wedding "Sometimes I just wish I could do everything all over again." "What would you change?" Everything. Nothin'." x Support Crew: Famous Fans: Chip: We have this deep, old, abiding, undeniable love. She's the one for me. Does that always work out? Is it always the best? ...Throughout it all, throughout the mess and the trouble and the turmoil and my damage and her problems in her family and all, there's that thing. But that doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to work out easily or well or whatever. But we're both in there trying. And what we love and what we've talked about, which is why I deign to speak for her, is that sometimes we have these conversations in the midst of all the trouble and all the angst and turmoil where we just sit there and just talk to each other and you can feel it again. You feel that connection again. It gets broken from time to time but it's always right there and it hums. Connie: What I love about the Deacon/Rayna relationship is that it is a very grown up relationship. It's a relationship of people who have a lifetime together and a history together and as actors that's so fun to play because there's so much dimension and depth to it and we can go in so many different directions, you know. And we have. There have been scenes where we can just rip each other apart in so many ways... but there's always this foundation between the two of them and everybody has relationships like that in their lives and I think that that is something that you want that. You want that familiarity and so it's really fun to be able to explore that with these characters. -Paleyfest 2013 Videos: Scenes: top 5 DEACON & RAYNA scenes | SEASON 1 |

2. I loved Deacon's friendship with Juliette... the sleeping together, not so much. Megan was painful. Dragged on forever and I could never figure out why they were together. I loved Rayna/Liam. They never would have worked long term but I sooo wish they had been able to keep MH for more of S2 and they had kept Rayna with Liam for a while instead of that Luke awfulness. And I always thought she and Teddy worked for what they were supposed to be 3. All of 3A? Is that not allowed? Uhhh the 301 or 320 flashback. I hate that they used the 301 one as justification for her picking Luke And Connie and Chip cannot pull off nearly as young as they were supposed to be in the 320 one and it just turned into a mess trying. Plus can we stick to one version of the story? kthanks 4. Probably the cabin scene from 219 5. Well just from the promo we can tell we're not getting what I really wanted, which was a wedding at the cabin with only a handful of people there. But just them being ridiculously happy and in love is good with me. And she better have a better dress than either of the awful ones for the non-wedding to Luke 6. Well we always post all Suvi's in here anyway so a couple of my other faves (and I should really finish some of mine at some point ) __________________

First off, bit of trivia. In the original pilot script when Deacon asks Rayna what would she change she says "Everything. I'd do it all different." and then Deacon says "That makes two of us." So there was no mention of "Nothing." I wonder if that was a Callie change or a Connie change?
And for the questions. 1. The elevator kiss. I started watching right around then and I was hooked with that. I then went back and watched the earlier episodes and really fell in love with their chemistry and how honest and real their relationship felt. 2. I pretty much hated them with any one else. I liked Liam as a character and did feel he and Connie had some good chemistry, but I was already team Deacon by then. 3.The same as Sarah, the flashbacks in 301, and those god awful flashbacks in 320. So basically this show should stay away from flashbacks. Whoever said yes to making Connie and Chip play teenagers should be fired. 4. This is sooooo hard, but I'd have to say the kiss/sex scene is 118. I loved it when she showed up at his door like that, and they were both pretty into filming that initial love scene. 5. Anything where the kids aren't bratty and are happy for their parents like they should be. 6. Anything by Once Upon a Sunday. Piratewench has written some really good ones. That one shot that took place in the weeks after R/D first got back together called "Borrowed Time." "Breaking the Cycle." "Like I do." There are too many good ones. 1. I was hook, line and sinker from the very beginning. That bridge scene in the pilot completely drew me in. The history of their relationship intrigued me. And I could see that there were clearly still feelings there for both of them. "No One Will Ever Love You", sealed the deal for me. And then in episode four "I thought you needed me"... "I do need you", I was already obsessed with these two.
2. Nope. Just ew. To all of them. Deacon and Juliette still makes me want to stick pins in my eyes. I have to fast forward through 99% of them with other romantic partners. 3. I'm not a fan of the Postcards Feom Mexico flashback either. Though I can't pinpoint why. 4. Oh geez how do I pick. So many great ones. Would be like picking a favourite song in the whole world. Different scenes call to me when I'm in different moods. I love the cabin scene toward the end of season 2; the scene where Rayna tells Deacon she's choosing Luke absolutely kills me (great one to watch when I need a good cry); the closet scene in 1x19 *sigh*. And basically all of their scenes in 3x16 5. Honestly I just want to see them blissfully happy. A slow dance, with them completely wrapped up in each other; Descon carrying Rayna across a threshold. Those are my two absolute wishes. And as an aside, it would be nice to see some of the other characters actually happy for them (besides Bucky - who we now know is Team DR). 6. "Bring You Back" video by Suspi is my absolute favourite of all time. It got me through the waste land that was 3A. Kills me every time I see it. |

Ok: 1) The bridge scene in episode 1: just the look on Rayna's face when she answers Deacon's question "What would you change?" - it was obvious there was an epic backstory there, and the chemistry between Connie and Chip was clear. 2) The only other relationship I liked for either of them was Liam - there was definitely something cool between him and Rayna. The other have been boring placeholders. I guess Teddy worked at the start of season 1 too. 3) I would delete any of the flashback scenes; they're so bad. Especially the ones from s3 in the ep where Rayna went to Natchez. 4) The elevator. Rayna showing up on Deacon's porch. Sitting on the couch singing 'At the End of the Day'. The 2 of them writing 'This Time'. The cabin scene towards the end of season 2. Too many! 5) I'd like a small, intimate wedding for them, but not really bothered. 6) There's some really good Fanfiction which got me through season 3A in particular: Piratewench, Bosswoman and OnceUponASomeday have written great Deyna stories. I love Supsi's videos on Youtube too. __________________

Great idea!!!
I'd also like to get added to this thread. 1. I'm fan of them since the first episode. At first I loved their chemistry and when I got to know that they have such an epic history, I got obsessed. Especially the bridge scene made a huge fan, because there were chemistry and there were hints, that they had known each other a long time and there had been a thing between them. 2. I hate all of their other relationships, because they just got in the way of them getting back together. But as characters, I like Juliette, Liam and finally Teddy now also. And when they were friends with Juliette and Liam, I like their relationships, but if it gets romantic, I hate their relationships. 3. I would change that Rayna decided to marry Luke instead of Deacon. And the entire plot of 3A about them wasn't necessary. I think the flashbacks aren't that bad, of course they aren't looking like teenagers, but it's interesting to see how it worked at that time. 4. I think the scenes of 3x16 and of 3x21 I re-watched the most, but now I re-watch the proposal a lot, so we'll see in the end which are my most re-watched scenes. 5. I'd love to see them singing and of course, I'd like to have awesome vows. Maybe 2 in 1. So they would be singing their vows, but on the other hand then the structure would be kind of crashed, because I'd like to see them marrying first and afterwards singing. So at the moment I'm not sure, yet. And I'd like to see some old faces and almost all of the other characters should be there. I don't care if the wedding is big or small, I'd just like them being happy in the end. 6. I like fan fictions, but I have no special favorite one. And my favorite fan videos are of Supsi Gonna Make It Right [3x22], This Love [3x16] and We Might Fall [3x11]. |

I really want them to sing at some point in the wedding episode too. Especially after he said he misses singing with her last episode. But also Maddie and Daphne need to sing. They sang at Teddy's wedding reception when he married crazy ass Peggy. They sang at the rehearsal dinner for the trainwreck that was Rayna/Luke. So they should definitely sing at some point in the wedding episode too. I'd be totally ok if it were another song with all four of them __________________

Can I be added too please? I don't think I've ever got around to it, and once we're not on the 1st page anymore I forget thanks!

1. Got hooked at the bridge scene already. Their natural chemistry and their complicated history drew me in. And I just adore the subtext and depth in season 1, it gave Connie the kind of scenes she's insanely talented for.
2. None for Deacon, but Stacey was the one I liked the best if I really have to choose. I love Rayna/Liam but for the fun casual thing that it was, not for long-term. Quote:
4. Scenes I rewatch the most are not necessarily my absolute favorite ones. I don't know. I would say probably all the scenes from 119? Quote:

What actually happened in the 301 flashback doesn't bother me so much as them juxtaposing it with flashback Luke to the rescue. Just them using stuff that happened 20 years ago to try to paint Luke as the better guy to justify 3A. Especially when Rayna looked like she regretted that choice literally as soon as she made it. We all knew she was going to dump Luke so no need to prop him up by trying to tear Deacon down.
Also where they cut off the flashback. It doesn't really surprise me that stuff like that happened. But show us what happened right after the scene cut off. Because it didn't look like he was trying to hit her. Still not ok but don't cut it off there. __________________

This discussion about the wedding has me thinking about the many people who might be there. Would love to Adria there. Coleman said Rayna and Tandy were like sisters to him, I'd like to think he would have showed up. I didn't read any wedding spoilers so I don't know much about it, but I'm hoping we see a lot of familiar faces outside of the main characters.
I wouldn't have minded a private ceremony, but I would think they'd want to do something a little bigger (not Luke Wheeler big, of course) just because it's finally happening. |

Watty and Coleman should definitely be there but not getting my hopes up in either case. Would have loved a Sadie appearance too but that's definitely not happening.
