“The Song in Your Heart” – In flashback, Snow and Charming make a special wish that Emma will be protected. The result of their wish has the whole kingdom bursting into song which infuriates the Evil Queen. Meanwhile in Storybrooke, the Black Fairy announces her plans to unleash another curse on the town while Emma and Hook prepare for their wedding, on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, MAY 7 (8:00–9:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network.

“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Colin O’Donoghue as Hook, Jared S. I was very spoiled for this episode (which is okay because you all know I like spoilers), so nothing really surprised me.

The flashbacks:
I thought everyone did a great job with their songs considering most of these actors don't normally sing. I really liked Bex's voice, but I don't think her song fit in all that well with the flashbacks. I guess they just wanted to give Bex the opportunity to sing. I read she was very excited about doing a musical.

I'm not sure why Snow and Charming needed the Jolly Roger to get to the EQ's castle. Didn't they all live in the enchanted forest?

I don't believe for a minute that the EQ would not have been suspicious of a box that magically appeared in her vault that wasn't there before.

I thought Rumple's line about the rusty fork was funny.


Present day:
It seems apparent to me that Regina's happy ending is being a family with Zelena. I just don't know about this. I'm trying with Zelena, but...

I wish Regina would have been dancing with Henry instead. That would have made me a lot happier.

It didn't help that in this episode last year, Robin died by having his soul obliterated. It's resurrected some feelings of bitterness in me. I don't begrudge other ships their happiness, but why couldn't we have that for OQ too?

I felt sorry for Belle fans. They could have used her somehow in the present if Emilie didn't want to sing.


I'm looking forward to the finale, but judging by the promo, I don't think Regina is going to have much to do.


ETA: My hubby, who said he wasn't going to watch the episode, started out watching it and then fell asleep in the middle of it!

I enjoyed the musical entertainment itself in this episode. I was already spoiled with 2 songs - the EQ and Hook.

As for the push of the ongoing plot? Meh. Mediocre at best - I am just not feeling any good build up to this threat with the BF nor her impending final battle with Emma. BF is kinda just ... there. She's not all that intimidating to me in this story, I thought Zelena came across much worse in s3. Clock Tower releases dark curse, repeat & recycle.

Okay. They just need to stop with their revisionism to push Zelena into taking credit for everything. First, she's the best with dark magic, she's more powerful than Regina ever was, she showed up the BF last episode with her car, now Regina essentially has Zelena to thank for being able to cast the Dark Curse because of that box she got to her to stop the power of song? Please. They even had Rumple passing a crack that she wasn't necessarily the better student that he picked. This type of writing does not do anything to endear me to Regina & Zelena as a Regina fan.

I agree with Sherry, I would have preferred Regina & Henry dancing. And the finale looks like it will be mostly Swan Believer. Not really that into the finale for spoiler reasons and it looks like Regina is not going to have that much of a role in this.

as a lana and bex lover I enjoyed their singing an dancing but for the show itself i would have prefferered regina dancing wiht Henry as well

the ep itself was okay. everyone who sang could sing and it wasnt like I had to put the tone on mute, Henrys one line reminded me of willow in the buffy musical. they both cant really sing but where put in because well they are part of the show

Honestly I think i love bex voice best but I agree that the flashback didnt fit. its just another low blow to regina fans that apparently she cant do anything on her own. I bet the dark curse just happened by accident after all

I knew belle wouldnt be in the ep so I could prepare but I was hoping that bobby would sing at least a tinsy bit. meh

I liked ginny and josh. they have stronger voices than i thought they would have

Lana had the best dancing number and the best musical number tho and I am glad for that.

I didn't like that either. I think they just needed a way to tie Zelena into the flashbacks, but Rumple's remark about Regina not necessarily being his best student irritated me as well. Although he told Zelena in 3b that if he had it to do over, he would still pick Regina.

I agree, Suz, Bex does have a very nice singing voice. I enjoyed her solo as a stand alone but as far as the plot goes? The story with the box was forced in there to show yet again how Zelena can always 'one up' Regina. I really wanted to like Regina|Zelena too but first the baby and now that ongoing dynamic. Blah, lol.

Sherry, yeah, Rumple even went out of his way to continue to teach Regina. He didn't just stop when he began teaching Zelena too. I mean, the story of s3 already displaced Regina as Cora's firstborn, whom Rumple needed from the initial deal he made with Cora, to cast his curse. But by the end of the arc in s3, it was strongly left in place that Regina was his best student - Zelena watched in on them and it made her completely green with envy. Literally, lol.

Yeah, as far as the finale goes, as much as I'd love and watch a Regina centered one, lol, I don't expect that but I would just like for Regina to have decent involvement in the ongoing plot of a season finale which could very possibly be the last. I would hate for Regina to go out like an extra character with hardly any scenes at all.

Lol, also just thought about it, but why would Zelena be breaking out into song when she's in Oz, not the EF? Did she just decide to sing on her own or something? I still get confused how she didn't age during the Dark Curse all those years when that curse was put over the EF, not Oz. Anybody the EQ wanted from other realms, she took to SB with her. Like Whale.

When the fans think of things that the writers didn't and then they have to come up with silly explanations or just ignore our questions.

I'm not ever going to forget what Zelena did, but an apology from her would go a very long way with me.
