Lana obviously knows Regina's feelings better than I do, so if she calls it puppy love then I suppose that is what it was, but I do not feel like it was portrayed on the show this way. Daniel's death was a huge event in her life. She hated Snow for years because if it, which eventually led to her cursing an entire realm. Granted there were other factors as well. She was pushed into a loveless marriage that she didn't want and Rumple certainly played a part in feeding her pain and encouraging her to learn dark magic, but Daniel's death was where it all began. In season 2, when she had to let him go, she was clearly not over him. Even as recently as season 5, twice we saw her react very emotionally when having to think about his death. There was the scene with the dream catcher in Camelot when she crying having to watch his death and then in the underworld at the cemetary, she couldn't even bring herself to look at his headstone until Snow told her that it was okay to look because he had moved on. That doesn't take anything away from her feelings for Robin, I'm just saying that to me, it seemed like the show was portraying her feelings for Daniel as a bit more than puppy love.

Agree. My impression also was that the show portrayed the relationship more deeply than just puppy love... They were pretty young and and rushed the proposing because of the cirtumstances so it's of course possible that if things were different they wouldn't have stayed together forever but I think they really did love each other...

Thanks for the gifset... I am not sure why Lana now thinks that Daniel and Regina were just puppy love like when she had her first boyfriends where she was 13 because I didn't feel she portrayed that that way....
Also the whole speech between Regina and Snow when she told Snow that true love is the most powerful magic of all...

yeah i dont get that either. i mean sure regina was young back then but seh thought of daniel well up until the point where robin showed up. now suddenly daniel was puppy love. the gifset shows that she thought he was her true love and believed in it very well past her later years

I love Lana's insight in her character and most of the time I agree with her or think "yeah, that's interesting" but there have been couple of times when my views really differes from hers and this is definitely one of these cases...

That scene where she refers to Daniel as the "love of her life" was from late season 4 so she thought of him that way for many years, probably up until she really fell in love with Robin. In this case, I think I will just stick to what I feel like the show was telling me about her feelings for Daniel.
