exactly. but i have the feeling that writers think they have to rewrite stuff so that other stuff makes sense. but thats just not ok

I don't really feel like they've done that with Daniel. It seems to me that Lana sees the importance of Daniel in Regina's life a bit differently than what the show has told us, but I think the show has been consistent on Daniel. I think they backtracked a lot more with Robin in 6x14.

I'm not overly confident there will be another love interest, but if there is, I just hope it is a good story and she finally gets to be happy with someone who doesn't end up dead before the series ends.

I won't lie, I am not that confident she will get a new love interest either. To be honest, I'm clueless and would be surprised if Daniel gets any mention from this point on.

The only bleep of him I can see, maybe, is if she doesn't remember anything right now because of a new curse but when the curse breaks - he is briefly part of what she remembers from her old life. But beyond that, nope.

You know what would be ironic is if her cursed life is actually full of good memories of a life that wasn't actually real and then when the curse is broken, she remembers all the pain she's been through. She would be happy to remember her loved ones, but there would be a sadness that would come with it. I think Ruby mentioned feeling that way in season 2.
